Winterhoff Hitch / Stabiliser
Just a quick question please I am going to look at a Hobby Excellent UFe495 this week & I think Hobby's have a Winterhoff Stabiliser/Hitch. My car has an tow bar on which I towed a 'van fitted witted with an ALKO stabiliser/Hitch. My question is will my current tow bar be suitable for the Hobby? It won't make any difference to our decision but it would useful to know before we see the Hobby. Many thanks

Yes.no problem at all.The winterhoff needs less clearance than the alko. There is a technique for unhitching which can confuse some for a while !

the sweetman - thanks for the reassurance, much appreciated! Not sure about the 'Can confuse some for a while' I may probably fall in to that category

Thereis a knack to the Winterhoff which is shown in the video

Much prefer the Winterhoff coupling personally much easier to use once you understand how to release it.

When it was introduced on some british vans we had a few customers who collected their new vans and got home/storage site and were unable to unhitch!!I got quite adept at explaining the procedure over the phone.(this was in spite of the fact that they had been shown at least twice at handover!).We then made the customers show us that they could operate the release correctly BUT!!!!you can imagine the rest!

We also have had the two makes and had Winterhoff on our last three vans, all on BPW which may be on the Hobby. All of ours have towed good and the Hobby with a long 'A' frame should do the same.

Thanks everyone for your replies & help, very much appreciated. Bought the Hobby this afternoon & absolutely delighted with our purchase. having now operated the Winterhoff at the vendors, it is much easier than I anticipated . I think it was Another David who, by his comments back of last year, persuaded us to go for a Hobby. Now can't wait to get all the paperwork sorted out & then off we go again.
