Wheni bought my new Swift van last year I was sceptical about paying the £95 subscription for Tracker. I thought it may be a waste of money, would it work, would the overstretched police act etc.

Last night confirmed to me that I made the right decision. The van was at my local dealers for service and snagging- including adding a new tracker as the original had been sending out too many position signals each day. I was curious to see whether the tracker had been replaced so last night I logged on to check its position. I was shocked to find the map showing my van moving south down th M1!!

I rang Swift Command who could immediately tell me that it was moving past junction 23A at a speed of 46mph! She suggested I report to the police which I did and was given a report number. In the meantime my "vehicle" was being followed by Swift Tracker. The lady was in touch with Leicestershire police who were to follow it up if/when it came to a standstill. It eventually did  at about midnight. When I zoomed in on the location, it appeared to be a DPD depot. At this point the penny dropped. My faulty tracker was on its way back to Sargeant but was still emitting signals!!

I spoke to the lady again and whilst she agreed this could be the case, they would still follow it. I checked with the dealer this morning that they still had my van and they confirmed that they had sent the old tracker back yesterday but didn't understand why it was still linked to my van. 20 mins after this conversation, it wasn't, so I guess they'd forgotten to do something.

police also rang me back to say they had visited the dealer to check my van was still there!

Im impressed with the Tracker system and how it worked in this silly situation and will pay my subs this year. Not sure if I would've wanted it back had it really been stolen though.

I hear your last sentence many times after vans have been stolen. If, as you say, there was evidence of it being mobile then when the police do stop it then no damage should have been done.

Very Impressed with Phantom Tracker as we moved off pitch to leave Chatsworth site yesterday....having inadvertently depressed the button on the alarm fob (in pocket whilst hooking up). Before reaching the end of the single track road...a text alert message came through on the hands free, to say there was unauthorised movement, please check your caravan.

Because the alarm was not sounding i rang Phantom to see if there was fault...as I was with the caravan and hooked up...The control centre told me that when the button on the alarm fob is depressed twice, this disables the internal sensors (for pet use etc) and audible alarm but retains the tilt/movement sensors...any unauthorised movement (including disconnection of battery) will activate an automatic message to owners mobile phone for action.

Note to self...always read 'how to use' instructions.
