Help needed....motorhome models

We love our L200 and I can't imagine life without it; we can fit 2 dog crates, a full awning, fishing gear, walking kit, water barrels, wastemaster etc and all our shopping in the back; keeping the "car" part relatively clean and tidy and having minimum weight in the caravan itself! As we mostly go to the Lake District and Scotland it's also reassuring to know that we will never be stuck whatever the weather😊

I feel awful for not saying anything relevant to your original post, but have you considered maybe hiring a motorhome just to see what the reality is like before you take the plunge? You might discover a feature you like in a model you hadn't previously considered?
When we bought our caravan I was fixated on a particular fixed bed layout, but with hindsight I wish I'd gone for the "sliding bed" model so we wouldn't have to argue over who gets the "edge of the bed"!

Hi 'thebells'.... please don't feel 'awful' ....thread drift often occurs...a mate has a Ranger and enjoys that for similar reasons as you enjoy the L200.... and I can understand why. In many ways they are hugely convenient.
I have considered hiring but feel I know enough about mhs and the way they are used v caravans as 2 friends have them. It's just proving difficult to get data on out of production models to compare with 'my spec'......hence the request for Model suggestions.
The search continues!!!

It’s not a criteria of the T&Cs of this forum that one has to know what one's talking about, TB. 🤪

bells, what's a sliding bed?
eiflow, has the discussion regarding bed sizes (singles required?) and effect on length of van, or weight or storage etc given you any assistance?
you say you know enough about MHs....I'm. wondering if anyone here can help any more?
but you say the data is scarce for used models.....so perhaps try MMM magazine or website which might help.

BB..current magazines do not, as far as I can establish, give historical model data. Not surprisingly they are only interested in new/ current products.I know what I want..hence the spec..but I was hoping some more models would be identified by those who are already using them. Hey ho...I'll continue my own research!! However, thanks for the efforts of all who have tried to help. I'll let you know if I find what I want..🚐🚐

Whoops I'm back!
We went for a Sprite Major FB (fixed bed), SR (sun roof) and haggled a very good deal; but the dealer would have given us an even better price (another £500 off the price), if we'd taken the SB (sliding bed) model. The fixed bed is fixed permanently against one side of the caravan and this is what I originally wanted. Whereas the SB model had the bed going across the middle of the caravan in an "almost fixed" position except you have to slide it in or slide it out about 30cms to allow room to walk past it to the end bathroom. Now the thought of this "messing up" bed covers etc was sadly enough to put me off! (As we'd had to construct the bed in our previous caravan I was obsessed with the thought of a bed which was always ready to lie in/on! The problem with this though is that the person at the side of the bed fixed to the wall (usually me) has to then disturb the other person by clambering over them to get out of bed for whatever reason (the loo etc). The SB version meant each person had space at their side of the bed and I sometimes wish we'd bought that one. It doesn't appear to be available now though so maybe everyone else thought the same as me?
Apologies for being so long winded I bet you wish you hadn't asked now😂

Have you looked at MMM closely? Every month they run a feature on secondhand vans probably going back over 8/10 years so certainly within the age you are looking for. Once you have found a model a Google will probably bring up more information. They also have regular features with owner feedback on the model they own and again these reports are on vans of your required age.

We had a caravan with the transverse sliding bed arrangement. It didn't work for us as the space on my wife's side was so narrow she had difficulty (she has a hip replacement) in getting in and out of bed.
We have made our choice of motorhome now but we are not quite ready to place our order. In fact we are grateful for enforced delay as it has enabled hours of research which is invaluable.
