After seeing people advising using ,a Floe drain down kit to remove any water from the water system .I bought one .All went well doing the hot water , but nothing came out of the cold side . I checked using water ,I have no leaks . I saw from a motorhome discussion someone was having the same problem . But no one gave an answer that was of any help .I was wondering if any of my fellow caravaners have any advise . Do different caravans work differently to others . Using compressor to pump air in the system to 15psi then opening cold tap nothing comes out ,air still in the system but only comes out when hot tap is operated .Hope for some help and thank you for any advise in advance.

Just a quick thought, check where you have made your connection. Sounds like you maybe on the wrong side of a non return valve.

Have you closed the drain down valve/tap before trying to pressurise the system

have you ever thought that there may be no water in the cold system as when drain down valve open it drains all the water out the cold pipes and only the water left in the boiler comes out the hot tap. just an idea.

I think you may have been referring to my post a few weeks ago. I have a different problem. I have a Bailey MH which uses the Whale system to either draw fresh water from a container or allows water to enter the water tank from a tap and hose connector.

My problem is that I can not sufficiently pressurise the system from the whale socket (as seen on the Floe video) because the fresh water tank continually vents air to allow water to enter the tank.

I need to install two products on the Floe website - the inline on off tap and then the push fit tee to allow e to connect the floe system to pressurise the system beyond the water tank - hope that makes sense.

I haven't done this yet as I'm not sure of the best place to install it.

I guess the drain down valve is closed, as these are usually located before the feed for the hot is "T"ed off, and if open no water would come out of either taps.

There is probably a little water in the cold pipes and the air is simply passing over it.  If the water/air feed is at the the front and the tap(s) at the rear it would be possible to raise the caravan on the jockey wheel to get what little water there was to accumulate at the rear and then be enough resistance to the air to get most of it blown out.

Neither the commercial or home built systems will ever get ALL of the water out. What they do is reduce the amount of water in the pipes such that when it freezes and expands there is space within the pipe to do so without bursting a pipe or pushing off a connection.

When blowing off I always run the pump for a half minute just to be sure about the pump itself and the feed pipe and valves.

If you had an on-Board tank you would of course need to have the valves set correctly. The only frost damage that I experienced was on a mixer tap (expensive!) so I always used to drain down and open all taps including the shower before driving to the storage area. The vibration and movement helps to get any remaining water out of the taps.

Do Floe have a technical help line? Most manufacturers do.

You will find that most systems will have a non return valve in the cold feed to the water heater / boiler. This is to stop hot water being expanded back into the cold pipework.

If you can pressurise only the hot water side and not the cold, try moving your floe connection nearer to the point where the water enters the caravan/ motor home.

The fact that when the system is charged with air and doesn’t loose any when the cold taps are open, but it does when a hot tap is opened, does point to the floe connection being on the closed side of a non return valve.
