On our seasonal site, quite a number dont leave site, other than shopping but enjoy themselves no lesser than we do, otherwise,

    Why would they be there?

I think maybe the plonking statement was perhaps a joke not fully thought out.

just a general feel - do you think the magazine is a little out of touch and should maybe have a feature on good, preloved affordable tow cars and Motorhomes for the masses??”

Is there not a presumption there that the magazine's contents should be aimed at helping the Club's members?

Might the reality of why these brand new expensive vans, motorhomes, tow cars etc are featured, along with much of the contents, be otherwise?

The "plonking" statement was an observation. Some would appear to use their caravan as a sort of static holiday bolthole, much like some marina based yacht owners. Others use it as a type of mobile bedroom. You're on holiday. The idea is to do what YOU want.

Near me there are many expensive cars, mostly German, and I believe that 90% of them are leased rather than purchased and believe that in general people are driving much more expensive cars than they used to but lease rather than purchase and change every 3 years.

I am not sure I have seen the same evidence of more motorhomes leaving the van sited and going out, than caravanners, leaving the van, and going out?

Possibly, that's because we don't sit there watching and noting which of each do what, as we are so often out ourselves.

I guess it’s an easy assumption to make that the caravanners who were sitting outside when you went out at 10am and were there on your return at 4pm must have been sat there all day.

The only way you’d prove they'd not been anywhere is if you’d sat there watching them all that time. It’s not long since you were a tugger yourself, CY, doing all the things caravanners do.smile

.... and yet another supply of second hand cars for people like me. I just wish they'd spec them up when they order them. 😉

I am rarely one for sitting around. We primarily use the site as a base rather than a destination.

We are not likely to spend a deal of time sitting around. With the hot weather during our 6 week trip in June/July we did spend 5 days on site however sitting in the shade with iced coffees and resting from the exertions of previous days. laughing

Is it not a bit like house prices, I look on the internet and watch house programmes on the TV that talk about 250,000.00 budgets and I think wow!  But there will always be people that have lots of money to spend and there will also always be people that like to look at and read about expensive things.

Each to there own I say as long as they don't want me to help with the payments let them choice what they want to spend their money on
