We are going to do the 3 Peaks Challenge in June. Well, we will be doing it over 2 weeks!!!!!

Has anyone any suggestions as to nearby sites suitable for 7m motorhome? Prefer CL's if possible.

Has anyone done the peaks in succession?

Not certain if we are to start with Big Ben or Snowdon as yet. We live in flat Norfolk.

Your help as usual would be appreciated.

I blame it all on that Mother Superior from 'The Sound of Music'

You could try the Glen Nevis camp site LINK as it's close to Ben Nevis. (I see they're doing some discounts too.)

The Three Peaks Challenge round here is Ingleborough, Pen Y Ghent and Great Whernside!

If you know which path you might use up Snowdon, might be able to pinpoint a close campsite for you there. We did Watkin many years ago, camping in Beddgelert. We used Glen Nevis for Ben Nevis.

Never been up Scafell, we did Helvellyn instead. That was camping at Low Wray, again many moons ago.

We used Glen Nevis for Ben Nevis, start from the site, finish in the restuarant next door with a massive portion fish n chips & a pint !

We used Sheperds View, a Best of British site for Scafell...

And we're using Llanberis Touring Park later this year for Snowdon...

In the late 70’s I worked at Low Wray but not on the NT  campsite ⛺️

I took OH up Helvellyn many years back whilst B&B'ing in the Lakes. She grumbled all the way up and all the way down. The only bright spot seemed to be the picnic at Red Tarn.

If you are going in from Wasdale for Scafell then remember that the club have a site at Borrowdale. We've used this site for access to Scafell.

For Scafell, from the Wasdale side, there's a CL at Gosforth, Bolton Hall, No.254 in the Site Directory.

For The Ben I agree that the Glen Nevis site is the best option as there are no CLs i that area. Yuu could of course stay at the club's Bunree site.

For Snowdon there are a couple of CLs.you could use, Bronderw Fm, Llanrwst, No. 2085 in SD, which has great reviews, and Joy of Life Country Park, Bethesda, No. 2124 in SD, which also has good reviews. Both are not cheap for CLs at £20 pn or you could use the club's Riverside site at Betws-y-Coed.

I thought that was what the OP was going to ask about, tda. When we did them we stopped at Stacksteads, CL, parking up at Chapel-le-Dale, climbing Ingleborough first and ending up with Great Whernside.

Yes I thought that was the challenge at first. We did Ingleborough with friends, but their house is the one at Crinna Bottom, so we had a good rest part way up! But it was in the Snow.😂 Same crazy friends once got an old battered LR Series one up Ben Nevis, many many years ago.

I would say as my top tip, buy and take the OS maps with you for all three peaks Mr S, it’s what the BMC recommend. There are some great tips online about all the peaks. Depending on when you go, don’t expect solitude, it can be a procession up Snowdon. We had to queue to get a photo at the summit. ☹️

We did the National Three Peaks in 2016 - not in 24 hours - more like 24 weeks!!

Started with Snowdon in May 2016. Stayed at the Camping in the Forest site at Beddgelert and used the Snowdon Sherpa bus service to start at Pen-y-Pass [pick up right outside the site - change at Beddgelert]. Ascent via Pyg Track & down via. Rydd-Du.

Also did it again but parked up at Llanberis - bus up to Pen-y-Pass. Walked up on Miners Track & down following the railway.

    Ben Nevis in July 2016.

Based at Glen Nevis site - ideal location - only real option.

    Scafell Pike - Sept 2016

Stayed at Borrowdale C & MC site. Had friend transport us to Seathwaite & parked there for circular walk on Corridor Route.

Hope that helps - good luck
