Limit on using shower/toilet facilities
Wyatt Covert C.C.Site was a small but tidy site. The owners were polite until we went to use the showers the following morning. The facilities can not be used between 10:30am -12pm due to cleaning, not sure how it takes 1.5 hours to clean such small facilities but myself and partner were informed we should not be in there until after 12pm. We were not informed of this when we arrived, only when we went to use the facilities when we saw the sign on the door. We had to leave before 12pm so we were rushed and stressed. Just sharing so other members don't experience the same difficulty.

That’s pretty much the same as all club sites. Was this your first visit to a club site?
Notices are permanently displayed so you are made aware in advance of the closure. In addition, the site leaflet contains the following info -
Site Facilities
Toilets and showers
The toilet blocks are closed for cleaning between 10.30am and 12 noon.3 -

I am not sure whether it was your intention to write a review of this site, if it was, posting it in the Story Section is the wrong place. You need to go to the page for the campsite involved and follow the links to reviews.
As mentioned site toilet blocks are generally closed around the times you mention. Depending on the site there are sometimes alternative arrangements when cleaning is in progress but probably not on a site with only 50 pitches. The time taken may be dependent on the number of staff doing the job so again on smaller sites probably only one couple? Was it not possible to use your own facilities?

This shows the importance of reading the notices and site leaflet so as to be aware of "restrictions". Having done so and knowing that the showers are closed at 10.30 am means that people can shower before that time without being "rushed and stressed".
The notices and site leaflet are there to impart information. If we don't read them or take notice of closure times we can hardly complain if we wish to use them at those times.
I hope this experience hasn't put you off club sites. You now know that information is displayed giving closure times.

Was it the first time you'd used this, or any other, club site? If it was, probably you wouldn't stop to think about toiletblock closure times for cleaning. However, the leaflet with site info usually has those times on it.
In my experience site staff never tell new arrivals what the closure times are for toiletblocks, they usually ask if you've got a dog, so they can hand you a leaflet about dogs, sometimes they'll ask whether you have a satellite, so they can tell you what part of the site is best for that, they'll also often ask if you've been to that site before, but I suppose they can't tell you everything you might want to know.
Come to think of it, in all the years we've been caravanning/motorhoming (well over 35 years!) I can't remember ever being told toilet closure times on arrival, either in the UK or abroad. It's something I make it my business to find out at some point on the day of arrival.
But, lesson learnt, so you'll know for next time and will be able to make allowances - every cloud and all that

I have never that I can remember, been "advised"of cleaning times ,and as our friends say ,they have learnt to only give the arrival the most important information, and even then there is a good chance the member will when adviseing of the pitch they have settled on , ask a question or questions as if the information had not been given already,as they were more focused getting on site than taking in what they were told

Welcome to the club Scott, that's pretty much the standard times. Always a good idea to read the site info leaflet prior to turning up. Lots of info available here and any anomalies can be gleaned. You just have to pull up the relevant page.

Enjoy now in the knowledge.

Even when you know the cleaning times, it can be missed. The object of holidays is NOT to clock watch.

Even on holiday I'm afraid the clock can be king! Those ferry times, that arrival time, that table at the favourite restaurant, that bus stop appointment and dare I say it that soap which still dictates for some the evening activity. Oh to be totally free from it!

"The owners"...….?

There has been many discussions of whether the toilets should be shut and the best times for this and who should clean them, but it has been going on for many many years now and no one can dispute the cleanliness of club facilities and the wardens (not owners) hard work in doing so. Indeed they are held in high esteem, and many times you will see the 'cleaned to club standards' in reviews of non club sites.
The closing times are Pretty much standard on club sites, and unless you go to a two block site and/or there are other toilets left open you are pretty much stuck with if you stay on a club site.

Why on Earth are we questioning the cleaning practise we no little about. May be the hose was used to carefully slouch down the disinfectant previous used. As for timing, surely we can still organise ourselves even on holiday. And if, heaven forbid, we are on that remote occasion taken short, don't most of us these days have some facilities onboard as a last resort?

Hi
Mods, I have to question why you keep a thread like this running when there are so many posts with "content is removed" posts. Surely it's better to close the thread and encourage someone to start another in a different vein?
Must look mightily suspicious to a new member willing to try their luck on this forum?
As a club employee who'd like to contribute, I see no incentive when threads are just removed instead of brought to order.
Head down now

Have to agree, I wonder if these removals are monitored in any way by the CM to see if their removal was justified in the first place?
No doubt this one will go too

I have not been involved with the removal of posts from this thread but I can still view them and perfectly understand why they were removed and had I been around a bit more today I would have also removed them. All of the removed posts are off topic or designed to wind people up and quite frankly some of the posters need to reread the T&C's of this forum. As moderators we are dammed if we do and dammed if we don't. If we close a thread people want to know why we didn't remove the offending posts, if we do that people want to know why we didn't close the thread. The main reason I expect why the thread was left open is that the OP has not yet returned to offer any further comment, as this was originally posted in the Story Section and it was a first time post he may never return so I will close this thread.
