My favourite is the Nextbase and I have the 412g. It’s now been superseded but I’ve found it to be a good camera with superb picture reproduction.

I've no idea of which dash cam is the 'best' however I've had a ddpai mini 1 in my every day Smart car for the past few years. I've had to replace the mini sd card recently after about 2 years. It gives a pretty good image of the road & I can read the number plate of an on coming car. It's now been superceded twice

Don't know if its the best but I like my Nextbase 402G. I have had it a couple of years so perhaps its been superseded.

I see Halfords have offers on Nextbase models at the moment. They do from time to time.

I've got a 412GW which gives a nice clear picture. Doesn't seem as susceptible to flare as the rear view camera on the MH. It does tend to pick up reflections from the chrome detailing on the dash though.

They help your driving too I’ve read. Knowing you have a camera clocking your driving & speed too can alter your driving for the better👍🏻

I have the Nextbase 412GW. I initially only used it in MH, but after I was victim of hit and run in car and me and my son struggled to recall the reg number of offending car as it drove off in front of us I now use it in car all the time.
There is bad driving in most cities now so having a camera reassures me that I can capture evidence if needed.
It does calm others when they see my camera, or when I point it out.

Thanks folk. Now a question, we have all seen examples of dangerous driving incidents or folk deliberately breaking the law. Do folk feel it would be good or bad form to present evidence of such to the police which is captured on such devices? I must admit there have been times when I'd wished a police car had been around when some miscreant has put other road users lives in danger. After all mine and your loved ones are out there too. Maybe this could seriously 'calm' or modify the way some folk drive if we all together joined the 'dash cam force' against them.

It’s like with everything MM, ‘you pays your money & makes your choice’ my Dcam has a choice to display my reg, my location & speed-I choose all👍🏻

Now that's interesting, had a vehicle pulling a 'trailer' overtake me in the outside lane of the motorway recently. The unit was exceeding 75mph in my view and was severely bouncing around the carriageway. The long line of HGVs drivers, myself and others the miscreant was determined to overtake I'm sure were all questioning this behaviour. Don't have a dash cam but with police forces as open to assistance as this I reckon they are a good thing.

The unfortunate reality is that years of cutbacks have left our police forces in such a depleted state that they are unable to pursue anything other than very serious incidents. This isn’t my unsubstiated opinion, but advice from police offers who we have spoken to, regarding clear misdemeanours . They will, however, give you a report reference number. Nonetheless we have dash cams perminatly fitted in our two cars.
