Hi all , looking for some advice , just put a deposit down on a brand new van but having two hairy travelling companions would it be worth me paying extra for the upgrades per friendly upholstery , can anyone give any advice , is there much of a difference between standard and upgrade , hope that makes sense , thanks

I thought the only difference was an alternative pattern.

We always used throws of some sort. Something easily machine washable that doesn’t trap hairs is best.

It's your choice, but for us with two dog's it's two large through overs that cover the back and base of the two front seats. Who ever brought our trade in van's off the dealers had front seats that looked brand new.

We upgraded the choice of upholstery in one of our vans only because we didn't like the colour and pattern on the "standard" offer. But I'd agree about the scotchguard and throws, much more practical in the long run. smile

We didn’t have too many problems with terriers, no hair, but the Labs......OMG. Not helped by chocolate one trashing the back of MH every time we leave them in it, he likes to “rearrange” his bedding, mainly onto the floor!😂 It was so funny when we first got MH. Number one rule was no dogs up on seats......that lasted half an hour. We gave up and decided to live with it. Covers work well though.😁

Upgrade is used by different manufacturers to mean a variety of options, Lunar for example can call a change of pattern an upgrade though the quality of the material is the same. They do offer a covering called Aquaclean the name indicates its properties, not keen myself as it has a slightly suede effect but each to his own. Needless to say an upgrade is also a price upgrade.

Hi folks thanks for the replies , yeah we used throwovers before when we had one dog but now we have two it was more for when they were wet , we always dry them in the porch awning chestnut with it being a brand new van this time I suppose we were worried about getting too much of a wet dog smell in the van

Until recently we always had two dogs with us, I sometimes get fed up with throws on the seats and towels on the floor (for the wet paws) but all the vans seem to have survived. Hope you and the "hairy companions"  enjoy your new van. smile

When I got my MH, which was 16 months old, I replaced the carpets with some rubber backed runners from the  local pound shop. That plus seat covers and throws means that when the time comes to sell, the upholstery will be pristine, unlike the owner. I haven't even got a dog!

I wish I had the patience AD. Saves on having to straighten throws endlessly. We’ve used a plastic runner over the carpets in our caravan in Winter, it’s mainly round the door that gets most traffic. We just put down cheap runners in MH nowadays.

Yes I remember you posting this. A lot of work, but worth it if you want to sell on.
