Started thinking of changing my Volvo in one or two years' time and am at present considering pick ups. Anyone towing with the new Nissan? They say it's a lot more comfortable than it used to be with the new rear suspensions. Thanks for your replies.

I currently tow with the V6 version of the previous D40 model. I test drove the new one with thoughts of changing.

i liked the interior, it felt more spacious and the exterior didn’t feel as wide due to its styling. It has a more car like feel to it. It felt a bit light and a bit twitchy over uneven road surfaces than my one, could just down to tyre pressures.

i didn’t get to hitch up and tow, but I noticed the 40 less horses up front and although it’s the same Seven speed automatic box with sports mode - handy in hillier roads, the option to manually change has been removed - again handy for long steep descending when towing.

It’s the same chassis as the Mercedes and although they use the same 2.3 engines - single and twin turbo, they offer a bigger V6. Money permitting, that’s the one I’d go for.

And how about the length? 5.36 m, does it make it for a bumpy and bulky experience when towing?

If you have a caravan under guarantee, check the conditions, as many do at least on the face of it exclude any form of commercial vehicle. I would check with the caravan manufacturer to be safe.
