I don't think anybody is trying to prove anything  ......  just observations.

I used many CC sites last year between £18 and £22

Club sites are like 5 star hotels with prices to match - hard standings, pristine lawns, heated blocks, purpose designed water and waste points etc. Far removed from when I first started camping but a small band of people like it that way and are happy to pay. “It’s camping Captain, but not as we know it”.

Plenty of other options offering more basic facilities at lower prices as has been mentioned.

It’s perfectly possible to holiday anywhere in this country with a caravan or MH for under £20 per night. We do it, Nellie does it, lots of others do it, in both caravans and MHs. But not if you stick rigidly to Club Sites at peak times of the year. That’s where choice comes in. You either stick with the Club, or look elsewhere. smile

Not sure what you want on a site David but what can you find in the UK that provides what you want at a significant saving? Any clues! wink

Last week I booked 6 nights at C&CC Sandringham in September , it was £40 cheaper than C&MC Sandringham site. I've never been to either site , and I appreciate the facilities might be of a lesser standard, but it's still quite a difference. I know it's an old topic, but I'm wondering if the deposit scheme the C&CC use has an effect on lower prices?

I thought that you only used club sites for a few nights a year and then near ferries, so was wondering how/what you are basing that statement on? Have you been to any of the more expensive club sites recently Dave?

From calculations club sites are still middle of the road in terms of prices, there are cheaper and more expensive sites out there.

To answer the OP's question - no, but after that I'm not sure what the OP wants?

Is that with age discount? I presume so. For hard standing and 6 nights I make it £31 cheaper with age discount. Without age discount about the same

The Club has set the standard in the UK by which others are judged by. Some of the Club sites are terrific, some are glorified car parks. What suits one doesn't necessarily suit the next, all of us having different views, needs & wants.

It doesn't mean however, that the standard set is 5 stars, no matter how tinted your spectacles maybe.

I am not saying I need or would use all these facilities but I regularly find them and at less than CAMC rates and for all I know they may be found in the UK

I am sure that you can find them in UK David. No idea on the price of them these days. Obviously CC sites are not 5 star as there are no trouser presses on pitch!

Five star these days is classed as the norm in hospitality, (if you read the brochures ) Seven star is now classed as exceptional

See my post above C&CC was £40 more in June & July so I guess it depends on the time of year you book or with the C&CC flexible pricing (you do not know what it is going to cost till you have nearly booked) they lower prices where there is not many bookings then ramp it  up once they have X amount for that week (like budget airlines) so horses for courses and pays to look around.

We have stayed on both and C&MC was better quality IMHO and the C&CC EHU was tripping every 30 minutes due to cold weather but both are OK.

Good news for you Dave, apart from the pitching (which of course ensures safety so you can't really argue with that can you?) some club sites deliver all you want to be a 5 star site using your own definitions.

Like I said if you are basing your ratings on your own limited use of club sites near to ferries you can't really say that some club sites are not 5 star?

A pool,a restaraunt and a takeaway.......means i would avoid that site like an Ebola outbreak. No matter how many stars they say it has.

Differant strokes for differant folks. Would like to go to Brixham , but stay at Hillhead !!  No thanks.

I suspect that it depends when one visits. I note that it does have mid week discounts

The one thing we have learned from taking a holiday anywhere, at anytime, in any way, is to ignore all the blather and guff that is spouted in advertising media, and by most others folks via reviews. One person’s little patch of paradise is another’s pit in hell.

It all comes down to the likes, dislikes and personal preferences of each person searching for the holiday. All this talk of 5* this, and basic that flows over me without impeding our progress to the next holiday, which will be chosen based on our likes and dislikes, be it outfit, price, route or location.

If I know of a site that will suit others with needs and tastes similar to ours I will share it. Others will have to do their own homework.smile

Probably true for most of us. We just want a pitch in a field with water and waste on a pleasant and well kept site. We take the toilet block if there. Others want something entirely different and we have no problem with them finding those sites.

As for the cost we can afford club sites so we use them most of the time as we know they meat our requirements. If they become too expensive for us then we will look elsewhere but generally the saving is modest.

A shower block! You are lucky to have a shower block, we used to live in shoebox at middle o’motorway.

David, with respect, I don't know why you frequently suggest that club sites cost "premium" prices? I can only assume it's because you spend relatively little time on sites in the UK. In fact, I'd suggest club sites prices are pretty much the median (in the strict mathematical sense wink) - there are indeed many comparable sites, including the other club's which are more economical and, likewise, a lot which are an awful lot more expensive for no extra facilities. You could say it's the cross us martyrs to UK touring have to bear! laughing

Are we looking for cheapness or quality? You rarely get both !

Those who want 5 star sites with facilities of the sort  AD has described might like to look at the 33 sites which have 5 Pennant Platinum grading from the AA. They are in the UK, not overseas, and I am proud that eleven of them are here in Cornwall smile

Don’t go to Hillhead Site in peak time it is £42.90 + per night.

I Never thought I would ever see pitch prices at nearly £50.00 per night at the Club 🤯

I would imagine if you want to visit this area on that type of site during the peak season, that sort of sum is not unusual.

For those who can holiday out of peak, midweek in early October costs £18.20.😀
