Water leak and electrical problem...Help please
Hi Everybody,
My father has got a 2010 Elddis Autoquest 140 and it looks like he has got a big problem with the van due to a leaking overcab. He took it out for a run the other day and when going round a corner water suddenly appeared gushing onto the passenger seat from inside the lining of the overcab.
When back home he sealed around the small sidelight located on the overcab and then today he has gone out in it again only to discover more water pouring in.
Second problem is that now he has discovered the small sidelight will come on by itself even though absolutely nothing is on electrically! He is convinced that he can hear like a motor running somewhere but has no idea where the noise is coming from.
Does anyone have any thoughts on what might be the solution to the water leak and or the sidelight coming on?
Many thanks,
Keith

With regards to the water, we had the same issue some years ago with a Bessacarr. It turned out to be condensation collecting in the space between the roof lining and the top of the van which had not been insulated properly. It occurred at this time of year.
Before you say this was too much to be condensation, in our case the water cascaded down over a seat and literally poured through the light fittings.
Might the motor running be the fan on the habitation battery charger?

Thanks Tinwheeler,
I would imagine it's more of a leak than condensation simply because of the rain inbetween the two days. I will asked him about the fan tomorrow thanks but he still cant understand the lights coming on by themselves with nothing at all on
thanks for replying
