Wales 2019
Any recommendations for sites particularly North Wales for a caravan, 2 adults and a dog, would be greatly appreciated.

A commercial site that we really like is Dafarn Rhos on Anglesey http://www.lligwybeachcampsite.co.uk It is right on Lligwy Beach which is Dog friendly year round. If you check TripAdvisor it gets good reviews with the exception of the rules that the site management enforce. But to be fair the rules are about there bering no noise after 10pm, not letting your dog foul the communal grassed areas etc which to me is fair.
A CL on Anglesey we love is called Pwll Preban. It has a shower block and a nice pub within 5 minutes walk. Rhoscolyn Beach is Dog friendly and an easy 10 minutes walk. The pub and beach were both regularly used by William & Kate when William was stationed at RAF Valley. You will get some noise of the jets at RAF Valley Monday to Thursday but it was never a problem for us.
There are 2 Club sites on Anglesey, Penrhos & Cae Mawr. Penrhos is more family orientated whilst Cae Mawr in our experience is the better site but it has no shower or toilet block which isn't a problem for us.

We've stayed at LM site & really enjoyed it. The Shropshire Union Canal is approx 10 mins walk from the site and you can walk along it to the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct which is a World Heritage Site. The village of Chirk is close by with a couple of pubs a bakery and a spar shop but little else. I would say Lady Margarets is great for up to a week but much more and you would have to travel to see something different. That said will loved our stay at LM's and will return.

Also, some people asked which parts of North Wales and you did not respond. Why not? That still applies. Look at the second and third replies above!
Just what information do you need to be able to make a decision about where you want to go or are you just asking the question to see what effect it has?

I think the site near the Snowdon railway mentioned previously on another thread by David K always sounds good (can't remember the name) combined with a stay on the coast, maybe around Barmouth or one of the estuaries would cover quite a bit of N Wales. I like the Dolgellau area where there are some nice CLs. I spent a lot of my childhood holidays visiting grandparents in the Conwy Valley, too much choice!

The Forestry Commission’s Old Beddgelert Site was always our first choice for North Wales. Think it’s gone to mainly log cabins now though.

But, as Dunelm has pointed out up thread, the OP previously asked the same question very recently, but has not returned on either thread to give any indication of preferred areas in North Wales / interests, so any suggestions being given are aimed blindly. Just hope some are hitting the mark.
The OP did reply to his original thread albeit a little on the cryptic side "Many thanks for advice to date - I will re enter it under ' UK campsites." Which makes me wonder if it was originally not posted under UK Campsites and Touring but moved by a moderator? It might also explain the second posting in the correct place?

David, maybe you can answer this. We often see a post being moved, particularly from the Story section, and quite often by somsone either new to CT or an irregular poster. Do you as a Moderator leave a note behind telling them it has been moved? I've often thought that non responders are that because they have no idea what has happened to the post especially as the Story section is separated from the rest of the forum postings.
This isn't a query, as such, on how the forum is moderated more one of trying to understand why posters do not respond.

I don’t think the OP is a regular user of CT, and given the changes that were made a few years ago, may not be fully conversant on how threads work, why they might be moved etc.....

Thank you for the interesting information. We are planning to visit wales in June. It will take us a few days to travel south. I wasn’t aware of club together so was really planning the trip in the dark. Our first site is Chester fair oaks from where we plan to visit Liverpool. Then onto penhros for 2 nights from there to coed-y-Llwyn , Ffestiniog for 4. Then onto st David’s and then to Tredegar house for Cardiff. Chirk is our last stop before heading home.
we would appreciate any hints, tips or advice on the area. Quite relaxed at changing our route for a better one!!

If you can fit it in, I’d recommend a stay at Pembrey Country Park just west of Llanelli. It’s a huge park which leads directly off the site and you can walk or drive (there’s a charge for vehicles) through the park to the beach.
Nearby is Llanelli with its coastal route which can be accessed by cycle from Pembrey via Burry Port. Llanelli boasts some good retail parks while further east you have The Mumbles and Swansea.

If I move a discussion item from the Story Section I always add a "Moderator Comment" to the post to signify it has been moved. Because the post is moved there will be no trace of it left in the Story Section and there is no real facility to do so. You are sort of right about your view of the Story Section but funnily enough if a discussion/question is moved in my experience most posters find where the post has been moved to. However people who post reviews where a note is left saying where it should be posted rarely respond to such notes and after a couple of days they are Deleted User. Personally I would like people who post s story to get automatic notifications that their story has had a reply, that would solve a lot of problems!

Maureen you have put a nice plan together and no doubt will have taken on board the hints and tips from others on this thread.
My only comment (and it is just that!) is that if you're planning to visit Liverpool and were thinking of using public transport, it will be much easier and quicker to do so from the Southport site 😀

That’s a tight shedule for getting around Wales. Personally, I would concentrate on one area as there is just so much to see and do, and like much of Scotland, you tend to have to drive around mountains and lakes. You might find yourselves spending a lot of time driving, rather than discovering, which will be a shame.
Not sure what kind of things you would like to see, but North, Mid and South Wales are worthy of at least a fortnight individually. We spent three weeks in South Wales a couple of years ago, just scratched the surface really. Can’t help much with sites as we used CLs, but have stayed at Tredegar Park. Nice little site, be prepared for traffic noise, it’s close to motorways, but good for dogs.

If you want to see Cardiff easily the previously mentioned Cardiff Caravan and Camping site is in the best spot, easy walking to all the sights in Cardiff, castle, shops, stadium and museums and it's also in a pleasant park which has cafes and cycle hire. You can get on a nearby water taxi which takes you down to Cardiff Bay, another good place to explore. Cardiff Boats LINK

Chariot only you can decide what time you have available and what your priorities are. We are going to Wales in April and in the week we have a rough idea of what we want to do. Sometimes we will be able to visit 2 places in a day, for example the Max Loop and Barmouth. There are a couple of nature reserves a few miles apart so that’s one day. Powys Castle will be a full day. With a little planning and a can do attitude it’s amazing what can be achieved.
We mainly have to conform to school holidays due to OH’s voluntary work.
