B+E is a much more recent innovation, why!, there is always a reason... To make sure people are competent in towing and manoeuvring from what i see. Due care and attention? I ticked all boxes, on the other hand the site did not, which has been proven through the installation company and staff. Can you see why I am fighting this?
Mishaps happen, me if to blame is one from my action's, the park has two, attendant and safety devices, weigh up the odd's.

Yes really, if i see a gap i am unsure of, I ask my partner to exit the vehicle and watch, remember i have a 20 foot trailer that I cant see at the rear. So yes Really!
If the barrier was down on the other side I would have asked for it to be raised. Why is that so hard to believe?

With all due respect I was not asking if you had a history of accidents, I was asking if any evidence existed which suggested that this incident was not a one off but a regular occurrence.
If others have experienced similar difficulties then that may suggest the owners of the site should have carried out a risk assessment with a view to improving their traffic management practices around the access and egress controls. If so, that may help your case.
I was trying to help in what I sadly really see as a lost cause.

I have a 24ft caravan behind my Freelander and would only need one of the barriers raised.
You said above passing your B + E demonstrates your competence and then say you want both barriers opened to get through or a banks man to guide you. What ever you do, don't state that on Monday

As the road ahead was clear I was able to position my car and caravan to avoid the fence, I am low down with a roof, an A pillar (I am in a bubble to speak) not making excuses but they are my reasons, that is the reason why I took such a line, I was not to know/advised nor didn't see the barrier from my view! If the barrier was down it would have been a different scenario, the scenario i was in differs to what people presume, I look ahead, the road is clear, nothing in my way, i have a speed bump to go over, both outfits, cyclists could be to my nearside of the caravan that i could not see, I dont want to pull to the left, wether i had a mirror and the extra mirror would not show them as its on a bend, I see the attendant in my mirror, I dont see the 10 foot pole descending. my caravan was 2 inches over the white line on impact, in a scenario that was clear of obstructions to me, no obstructions and I had someone looking out for me.
Now its my fault I was not warned, didn't see the barrier descending for whatever reason, I was checking my mirrors , glancing ahead, ahead and not looking out for a descending barrier,for what is mentioned and it is my fault?

A week prior to my incident a lorry was involved in an incident with the barrier on the inward entrance ( he opposite side to what i was involved in.
The barriers were introduced in march, as far as I know there was two incidents within a month

So let me get this straight Goodchild , because you are sticking to a point of principle you could end up thousands of pounds out of pocket ?rather than admitting you misjudged the situation and be a few hundreds of pounds out of pocket .i know which one I would choose

If at the time, one of the barriers were closed and I was unsure, i would ask for the opposite side to be raised, I didnt or want a banksman, it is me who is driving. I will assess any scenario as I see fit,
I have driven many a places without an incident because i would like to think i am cautious. It is my property that i paid for. Why take a risk if you can minimise it through thought?
I explained about the mirror! I was in the field of not being in the illegal blind area.
Towing mirrors have nothing to do with the incident, I could see the caravan edge, i wanted it away from the fence, how hard is that to believe?

Towing mirrors have everything to do with it! Your statements are contradictory.

You admit to a blind spot and not being able to see the rear of your van (above). Then (below) you say you were not in the blind area. You have contradicted yourself. Yes, you explained about the mirror but that is no excuse in law. It appears to me that your offside mirror is also inadequate.

If we are all to learn something from this occurance (which is what experiance is all about) it is to be very careful of these barriers and not to trust them at all. They look flimsey, but seem to be able to do expensive damage to vehicles.

Good night all, I will update you all on Monday and remember I didnt ask for them to be in place and I was never advised they were in operation, regardless of ABC.... I am the driver of the vehicle, in control of that and nothing else!!

The mirrors are irrelevant! I mention that I could not see a blind spot of my caravan, which is on a bend.Car and caravan not in a straight line, it's On a bend,!, mirrors mean nothing on a bend, all I would see is tree's. I left room for cyclists - forget the mirrors! I am being cautious... The mirror is irrelevant, the road ahead is clear, I can see through my car mirror my caravan leading edge to avoid the fence, I am clear and head off. Why is this so hard to understand.

Yes the mirrors show everything! although from behind....
To the front it was clear, clear, clear. I took a line that was clear, do I need to stop and then make a decision on my first decision? it was clear.. I went ahead with no warning and my caravan suffered damage due to not being advised of the barrier that i was unaware of and lack of devices to detect such incidents.

Yes, your a genius, if I seen the barrier I would have stopped. Well done on your ob's. I didnt see the barrier for the reasons given.
I will take the constructive opinion you speak and use tomorrow, I will think of a gable end falling down, then I will stop before the gable end of the house, look, make a decision and then decide if I was correct to drive ahead only to be crushed. Really where is this going?
