Another very nice mild day
managed another couple of hours in the garden, brown bins full + another black dustbin full. Still got 1 more bed to do and another border, loving that I can get it done before we jet off.
OH washed my car today
then went into his shed to do MAN things
Late afternoon spent browsing the internet.
Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

Lulled to sleep last night by three Twany Owls calling, no insomniac here. Spent the morning at Scunthorpe reserve, what a fantastic site this is, totally wheelchair friendly including entry ad visibility in the hides. Plenty of birds around so really made up. After lunch had a walk around the lanes to South Creake and back. Weather is windy but mild. 🦉

OH has man flu 😩

Thanks bakers2. It's put paid to any plans this weekend. Hopefully it won't hang about for too long. I hope both you and your OH are fully recovered. Roll on spring. 😊. I hope you have had some shoe success. Is your wedding outfit sorted?
0 -
Yes most of outfit sorted, foot and head to go 😂😂. Bought dress last July in the extreme heat following a hospital appointment in London, whilst looking for somewhere to lunch. It's known as the sandwich! Jacket followed equally easily along with 2, one in each colour, dressy clutch bags!. One pair of shoes M&S collected and tried on 😯 think colour a little off and reasonably comfy. Other 2 pairs in distribution centre. Will dress up properly when they arrive and if its warm enough.
Not sure if headwear or footwear worse to tackle 😂😂

Glad that you had good day out H&T, did you miss the rain? We did the lower half of the Manifold Valley trail today as it was rather wet and quite windy to start off with up at the van, and following yesterday's muddy walk decided to stick to hard tracks today.
Sorry to hear about OH's flu, millie, and hope that he and both of the B2's are fully recovered soon.
Sounds that you've had the best of the weather today TG, and made full use of it too. Can't be too long till you trip away, now.

Bakers, in order to save your poor bunions can I suggest that the best footwear will be a pair of your comfy hiking shoes. Honestly, no-one will remember whether your clutch bag(? eh?) matches the rest of your outfit. Sorted. Just remember to take the mud off them first!
No need for thanks. Mrs WN always says my dress sense leaves one speechless. What more praise can I have?

I've got my eye on bright red patent leather DM's. OH frowned, haven't checked with son 😉. Colour would be good, saves dyeing my walking boots. Incidently I almost live in them 😂😂. Fine with jeans or even trousers. We met cousin of DIL2B Boxing Day for a walk, unbeknownst to me he's ex army, he remarked on the shine on my walking boots 😂😂

Because we have been indoctrinated by society, adverts etc that women's feet should be squashed into under shapes and high heels. Why we couldn't have left them to the men instead of stealing them a few centuries back I have no idea. Incidently I've rarely worn such shoes but still suffer!

I had to laugh about 8 years ago we were meeting 96 others for a meal in a restaurant.
Knowing that there was little parking there I stopped about 400 or 500 yards away so we could stroll down. OH was wearing a pair of those 'killer heels' and said I cant walk down there in these shoes.

We had a strange step back in time moment last night, we had free tickets for our local theatre. I knew there was a back up music act but hadn't looked it up, then first on to the stage came the Nashville Teens (now the Nashville Oldies
) so we heard Tobacco Road at full blast then we had Cliff Bennett and the Rebel Rousers also of the Beatles era so we heard "Got to get you into my life" etc etc. Good music but weird to be sitting down listening to it with other ageing teenagers.

I used to be seriously high maintenance in my younger years, loved clothes and shoes. Thirty plus years of dog ownership and dog walking has overtaken my life now. For all but a few days a year, the odd special occasion, I seem to be in dog proof gear and sensible shoes. So any pampering I get is usually dog proof (eyebrows and eyelashes mainly) even a nail paint barely gets time to dry before some beastie needs attention! 🙄

It’s a relatively new thing in our house JV, we always had Airedale’s, which don’t shed, but need clipping. However, two Labradors, one golden is like living with fur producing aliens! The golden one is like a field of dandelion clocks in a gale. The Dyson can’t cope at times.
Dog number one is nine today. His favourite human is coming to visit for a meal later, along with his second favourite human. Beside himself with joy this morning when trying on his new glowinthedark collar. The wrapping paper was delicious........😂

Yes we put hair out for birds ET, they love it. OH was doing interior reupholster on our MG a few years ago, including padded leather tops on doors. We were pondering on what to use as stuffing, until I had a lightbulb moment.........clipped the Airedale’s and the hair made fantastic padding. The little darlings are on every ride out in MG now!

Another lovely sunny day here, though the wind is very cold.
No gardening today as we went to see Mum, shes's doing well and enjoying the 'Memory' book I made her for Christmas.
After Mum's visit we went to the pet shop to stock up on bird food, I get a feeling we are in for some bad weather soon
just hope it doesn't arrive on the night/day we have to travel to the airport.
Shoes: I love shoes/boots/sandals but like others on here have to watch what I now wear. Sandals, boots and trainers are my favourites courts shoes not so much these days as they don't have enough sole for comfort
high heels are a distant memory

I admire that. I'm not that kinda girl, well older lady!
Having been brought up to 'dress proper', my mother took and wore gloves on holiday still in the late 60's early 70's 😂 such lessons cant be unlearned 😯. Dress/skirt has to have delicate footwear. I was a tomboy and constantly in trouble 😂😂.

Been watching it on tv brue, really bad over there just now. Our eldest is off next week to Bulgaria with a group of soldiers skiing
hope they are going to ok.
Well if we are going to get it bad with my luck it will be the night before we fly, I don't have a good track record I'm afraid.
On two separate occasions when I flew home for Christmas while OH was doing a tour of duty in N Ireland. I got stranded on my way home.
First time the kids were 3 years old and 6 mths old, it started snowing at 3 am and didn't stop until that evening. The plane finally left that night from Edinburgh, we were not on it, as the motorway and the Forth bridge was closed. That was January 1979.
The second time January 1982 I decided to fly to/from Luton and get the train up/down, we got home alright but on the return journey the train got stuck in snow and we didn't make it into London until 2pm we were due to fly at 11 am. So we ended up spending the entire weekend at RAF Hendon.
Last year the beast from the East grounded us 2 nights before we were due to fly to Lanzarote as they closed Glasgow airport.
We are due to fly on the evening of the 26th so by my reckoning it will start to snow around 9 am that morning
as long as we can get to Glasgow airport then I don't care.

Obviously a sign that she should have gone further south for her holidays.
