Breakspear Way Site, Nostalgia
Today, whilst looking at a route on Google Maps the road went past the old Breakspear Way site and on the aerial plan it still shows the old club site quite clearly, albeit empty and closed. So, as an interest I then looked on Google Earth, now I thought these aerial images were one of the same, not so. On Google Earth, where the site was, it is shown as a large building site (Industrial) but with the green tree push pin still in place which states Breakspear Way Caravan Club Site.

Stayed there a few times, when OH had to attend meetings in Hemel Hempstead, very convenient. I remember a very good Indian restaurant we used to walk to, it was near some small industrial units, the name escapes me for now. I used to catch the bus into London for some sightseeing whilst OH went to his meeting. It's some years ago now, at least 12 if not more.

Wasn't it quite near to the massive Buncefield Oil Storage fire? That was in 2005. I can't remember if it was already closed by then?

It was there when Buncefield fuel depot exploded, the was only minor damage to a couple of LVs,The site was very "vunerable" to Traveller problems,it was badly vandalised one year,it was on a short lease from the council, who were (in the loop) to let the club have a new site at a nearby leisure complex, but there was a problem with Nimbys,so it was all abandoned
