Insurance - personal items of value - long periods

Hi folks

we will be travelling in Spain/Portugal for 6 months or so with binoculars/camera/telescopes/laptop etc.  Any recommended insurers for items such as these?  Companies we have contacted so far have a 60 day limit abroad but this must be a common situation in motorhome world?

    Not thought about it specifically! We are insured with the other club and get 180 days cover for empty property, increased as a member on the standard cover offered. I'd assumed that personal items would be likewise. Haven't had to put it to the test thankfully. Might give it a read through of I get spare minute or two 😉. Since we wont have a prolonged absence this year it isn't imperative.

    Not something that I have considered. In general our camera is with us. We have a couple of 10'' Galaxy tabs in caravan and a TV. I don't have them insured. If the tablets were stolen I would replace ..... no rush for the TV. In the last 260 nights away it has been used 5 times for less than 12 hours in total. In 40 years I have never insured caravan contents.

    If you take out holiday cover you should have them covered by that. Not clear what the total value is so check when insuring these.

    The problem is the length of stay away.

    I never found an insurer who would cover my goods for 6 months when I did it.  Just had to rely on not getting burgled etc.,
