You could try Splash Farm CL near Cromford moonchip. Very nice CL with individual pitches, a good if hilly dog walk adjacent, and lots of other walks close by, along with plenty to do and see. Matlock isn’t far.
This is a review I left on another forum. The pitches are grass, but have plastic underneath so good firm surface. Nice owners. Here’s my review

shouldbe just inside two hours hopefully.

It depends which direction you're wanting to head, and where from. Do you want to be north or south of M/C? What about Sycamore Farm, Nether Aldeley, nr Macclesfield...south of the city and easy to get into there. Plenty of others too, just need more info on the type of site you like and what you expect.

Welltrough Hall Farm CL - all hardstanding but which also has a separate area not part of the CL. Under Cheshire - No 89 in Site Handbook. Awesome views in all directions.

For that price one could stay at the club's Burrs Country Park site. As a single occupant it would only cost you £14:70 pn compared to £20 pn at Welltrough CL, and be a closer to M/C too.

Always worth checking Club Sites if you are a single tourer, especially those with MWD. My OH stayed at Exeter Racecourse for less than £10 per night a couple of years ago.
Price might not matter that much to moonchip and his chum though, might be a nice location with lots of dog friendly stuff to do and see!

Lovely around you as well jesslou. You are on our radar! We drove past while staying in a cottage before Xmas.

Ditto but the OP was asking for CL recommendations.

How about us? Stoney Leach Nurseries (no.813, page 377 in the Directory) is in a quiet, rural setting not for from Junction 27 of the M6. Open all year and with hard-standing pitches, we charge £13 per night including EHU, awning and dogs. You can get to Manchester by road, 30.6 miles to the centre. The nearest train station is 2.5 miles and the trains take about 50 minutes and run about every 30 minutes depending on the time of day Hope this is helpful, you would both be most welcome to stay here.

I rather got the impression the OP was hoping to drive two hours max from Manchester area, rather than into it. I could be wrong of course.....

No need to get your coat, I was interested enough to note your CL, we are hoping to do a tour over the Pennines this year, so will be taking a look! As I said I could be wrong indeed. Sorry if it sounded a bit unfriendly, it wasn’t intended that way. Good on you for mentioning your site.👍
Edit: looks a very nice place, interesting location as well. And a nursery, always take a plant or two home from our travels!

Stretching it indeed redface! Best guesstimate for Manchester to High Wycombe is well over 3 hours, and that probably assumes you are the only car on the route! And not towing!😂

Some people have no idea about the geography of this country!!

susanb, just checked out your CL, as we are often in need of a CL to use when visiting our son in Manchester. Will put your site on our list. Thanks.

😂
We are only travelling from near Sheffield to Manchester tomorrow, a tiny distance as the crow flies, but it will be a tortuous couple of hours we shall endure! But at least it isn’t blocked by snow.............yet! Only by a shivering mountain and an endless procession of HGVs.

Hope that you got across ok. Did you go via Woodhead? If so you might just have run into a flurry or two of snow as we did near Leek today!!

We went via Woodhead, had a stroll with dogs at Langsett, had a good run until we hit Tintwistle, then the usual horrendous Manchester traffic set in. We needed to go to Salford as well, other side of City, so we just had to grin and bear it. Glad we went, we wanted to look at some furniture that looked great online, but we were disappointed when we saw the range in the showroom. So money saved. We came back via Castleton, stopped off up at Mam Tor to walk dogs again, then had a good meal in George, stopped off at Longshaw for a last walkies. No sign of any snow, but it was a lot colder across there. I had forgotten how bad the traffic is in Manchester.

Our CL in Shropshire is dog-friendly and is just over an hour from Manchester. I used to work in Moss Side, Manchester and commute daily. We are 5 miles from Cheshire and 2 miles from North Wales.
Ellesmere is the lake district of Shropshire - our 2-acre CL is surrounded by rural canals, lakes, green fields and gently rolling hills. £14 per night including EHU. We make no charge to use our Wi-Fi.
