Chester city centre by bus from the Club site

We were there in November and took the bus from the Cheshire Oaks Shopping Centre and I would say the the journey did take at least half an hour if not more. Part of the reason is that when you actually make it to Chester the bus passes the new Bus Interchange and continues to the station before returning to the Interchange. If you know Chester well enough (we don't) you might be able to get off earlier and save some time. There seem to be two main services one of which goes via Chester Zoo but I don't think one is much better than the other.I should also add that you do have the walk to the bus stop which from the site is another 10/15 minutes. If you do walk look at the instructions in the information room which suggest walking through the Sainsburys petrol station and down the steps towards the shop. Difficult to believe there is no dedicated footpath into the shopping centre!

WTG, An alternative could be Woodside Touring Park - adult only with 10 hard standing pitches, 3 miles NW of Chester with a bus stop close to the gate. Reviews on UKCampsite.co.uk

Like DK we were there in November and took the bus to Chester a couple of times.
Stagecoach service 1 takes slightly less time than the X8 as it doesn't go via the railway station, round about 31/32 mins.
The X8 does go via the railway stn and takes around 35 mins.
Admitted it's about a 10-15 min walk to bus stop from site but if you have a car rather than mh you can park all day at Cheshire Oaks for free.
Service 1 runs every 20 mins and x8 every 30 mins
Whilst ETs suggestion to use the zoo P&R is a fair point, bear in mind that if you are bus pass holders there is a fare to pay on the P&R bus, whilst your pass would be valid on the service 1 and X8 which both stop at the zoo.
Journey time for the 1 from zoo to Chester is around 20 mins and X8 two or three mins longer. Also service 1 and X8 use a different stop at the zoo to the P&R, though they're not far apart.

P.S Just realised WTG that you are from Pembrokeshire so if you do have a bus pass it won't be valid in England anyway!

We did WTG!
If you want to visit Port Sunlight without the MH you could catch the Liverpool bound X8 to Ellesmere Port and catch a train from there to PS.
Service 1 and 2 also run to Ellesmere Port but only go to the bus stn, X8 goes to B.S then the railway stn forecourt, journey time about 15 mins from Cheshire Oaks.
Port Sunlight well worth a visit!

If there are two of you and you have to pay for any transport fares why not think about a taxi? Not the last trip, but the one before we took a taxi to the Waterways Museum at Ellesmere Port (well worth a visit) and I didn't think the fares were too bad.

WTG, if you could use a CL there's one at Broughton, Digby Farm, No 82 in the 2017/2018 Site Directory, which has a toilet & shower block, and is a short walk to the bus stop directly into Chester. I think that it is classed as Wales so you could use you pass to get into the city from there.

The Broughton shopping area is a short walk from the site and has a large Tesco, a M&S foodhall and several other well known retailers as well as a large cinema complex and a few eateries such as Pizza Express etc. and a pub. You can definitely use your Welsh bus passes from there for any bus travelling into Chester and also for the return. They are quite frequent from here as more services provide a stopover for the shopping complex.
BTW don't miss out on Lady Lever Gallery when you visit Port Sunlight. Free of charge as well.

Definitely a lot quicker and easier way of getting into Chester than from Fairoaks.
