Kampa Poled awning
Weve bought a Kampa light weight 390 awning.
The 'old' poled type and I was wondering with regard to the roof poles are they to fit above, onto (against) or under the awning rail?
Looking at the pockets where the poles are inserted to looking at them I think they can sit in any of the above 3 'options' tho if the do sit under the rail there is a chance in windy weather they could bang into the caravan side where the awning rail is.
Any help would be appreciated

Thanks Derykcyril.
I have looked at several videos where no comments are made regarding the position of the roof poles.
I have deduced from looking at the videos that the poles do not sit above the awning rail so now it is whether it sits onto the rail or underneath it. Tho if it does sit underneath the rail it will then be close to the side of the caravan wall and this is my concern as to potentioal damage that could be caused in strong winds.

We have the Kampa Air version now but used to have the 390 poled version and from what I can remember the poles simply find their own position when threaded into the pockets i.e. they rest close to or maybe touching the awning rail. It was never a problem. If they are above or below the awning rail the awning does 'look right'! When pegged out tight the poles won't bang onto the rail or side of the 'van.

I have one. Did you not get instructions with your awning? Basically the canvas is suspended from the poles. The poles slot in on the outside of the awning into slots on the roof of the awning. You know if you are correct because the poles by the front edge are on the outside and you clip the canvas to the poles. Note that two of the poles will have the fittings (yellow) for guy ropes and they go on the edges. Inside the awning you will have two long poles to fit parallel to the caravan fit these to the inside roof using the fitted ties before you peg out. This will all become clear when you erect the awning. Trust me (I am a caravanner!) you will become quite proficient at putting up the awning the only complicated bit is identifying the outside of the canvas prior to sliding it into the rail! To sum up fitting:
1. Lay out poles to identify which go where.
2. Slide canvas through rail.
3. Slid in poles, the two with yellow fittings at the corners.
4. Peg out guys to corner poles only at this stage to get correct shape and clip canvas to poles..
5. Fit interior poles to roof.
6. Adjust height of poles to ensure level.
7. Peg out.
8. Get out chairs and treat yourself to a beer
