Is this fair or right ?
On site at Baltic Wharf. Caravan comes in towed by large, long wheelbase panel van proffesionally equipped as a motorhome. All fine BUT the panel van is being used to sleep/accomadate members as well as the caravan.
Being on a single pitch especially at rather small Baltic Wharf the overall unit not only overtakes the pitch, it also blocks any winter sun etc. Should the wardens have insisted on 2 pitches. Would you want such an outfit next to you. Could be the beginning of a short straw with VS day vans ?
What do members think, is this the French Aires mentality creeping in ?

Firstly thank you once again for taking time out of your holidays to have noticed and post this.
So how do you know for definitely that the MH is being used for sleeping? Have you been watching when they go into the MH and when they come out of said MH in the morning?
Personally i would just get on with my holiday, let the wardens worry about if rules are being broken (if at all) and I'm pretty sure that having sunlight is not part of the pitch rules and would hardly affect anyone Could be wrong so could you describe the direction of the pitch in relation to the sun's path over the day? also height of said outfit too?

Have you spoken to the warden about this, W&J? After all, if rules are being broken, it really isn’t on. Where will it all end?🤔
Happy New Year!

Looked at a satellite view and I think the higher trees and building will blot out any sunlight for others before a MH and caravan does.

lol, yes please

Just shows, one tries to have a sensable debate but with the same small minded I'd!!!ts occupying the forum it's just a waste of time.
Yes Tinwheeler they ran around the site in jamies, your just a waste of space. Oh yes sorry before the ceansur arrives !

I think it's damned decent of these folks to arrange to share a pitch. I've been to Baltic Wharf and it's a very popular site. They've obviously decided that as it is the season of goodwill to all men they will leave a pitch free for someone else, because there always is a someone else at B.W.
Not sure the comment about the sun is that relevant W & J as it is December and one would likely catch a cold if you decided to sunbathe.
Hope 2019 is as exciting as 2018 appears to have been for you both.

What are you talking about?
I asked if you’d spoken to the wardens about the possible breach of rules and you tell me someone was running around in nightwear. How does that make me a waste of space?
Would you care to answer my original question so we can establish the official view of the situation, or are insults from you to be the order of the day?

Well W&J we can only have a sensible debate when you begin to give accurate information and not your simple observations, I'll ask again how do you know that they slept in their MH?
Also it would help your case if you did not bring in irrational and extremely inaccurate ideas like blocking sunshine, below is a pic showing the amount of sun today and those trees and building will block before that outfit Posting things like this just makes your post appear prejudiced and non nonsensical from the start.
PS what is a ceansur?

You have asked for our opinions and we have responded very politely asking for clarification and if you have discussed this with the wardens (extremely sensible suggestion btw) but it would appear that as our replies are not what you want to hear then you are rude and insulting back? Why?

How many dogs did they have with them

W & J , I'll tell you what I think ,I personally would have got on with my stay , if there was any transgressions of rules the I would leave it to the warden to run his/her site
on the site I am on now ,on the opposite pitch is a converted horse box lorry ,should I have a hissy fit ?, no I will just get on with my stay ,rather than try to stir the sh.............

Keep calm everyone. I have deployed my *GOG meter, set to “Club Site” and this is only a level 2 incursion. Acceptable given post holiday diet (too rich) and lack of daylight hours.
*GOG= grumpy old git!🤣🤣🤣

like it - when you've got time give examples of other levels?

might be some left in the horse box?

Well the last site I was on, the pitch opposite had a car and caravan which were clearly more than 5 years old, and their dog not of a pedigree I have ever seen before......
For goodness sake, what is this club becoming......................

The rules are if the towing vehicle is not being used for cooking in (no gas connected) and Is not using an EHU but it does have sleeping accommodation then it can share a pitch and be used as an awning would be used, which is what I do when towing my Sister's caravan.
Of course this time of year if Gas or mains electric is essential for heating then it could be a chilly nights sleep in store.
If the total unit is too big for the pitch then clearly that is something that should be addressed by the site management. I always try to book an awning pitch and for most sites, including the other club, give both length and width of total unit when the camper is being used as an awning.
As for blotting light out, in my own particular circumstance my vehicle at less than 5m length and 2m height (roof lowered) is smaller than most caravans,

Well with talk of horse boxes I thought you would have spotted the obvious mistype! The poster obviously meant Centaur. A mythical half man half horse which is supposedly due to appear on this thread any time soon.

I think you have summed up the rules very well indeed.

This is a censaur. Managed to find one naked, they usually wear underpants, hence “censaur”

"A mythical half man half horse"
Licensed to S*** in the street as my old dad used to say

Would it be permissible to apply the EHU to the campervan and run the caravan on gas? I don't know. After all electricity is sometimes used in awnings.
W&J I apologise for momentarily doubting your evident veracity It seems that unfortunate incidents and poor site staff dog many of your foot steps on CC sites. And what is this talk of PJs. Were there further debaucheries on this site? I haven't visited the site for 35 years and standards must have slipped

I am at a loss to understand what you mean by that, W&J. Have you ever stayed on a French Aire? I have, on several, but haven't seen an outfit such as described by you. I have seen MH's towing small cars or motorbikes on a trailer, but never a caravan. So no, I for one don't think this is "The French Aire mentality creeping in".
As for your other points, if it upsets you, which it appears to do because you have started a thread on it, then I think the best course of action is to speak to the wardens about it. It's the only way to clear up any misunderstanding, either on your part, or that of the person with the MH and caravan on the same pitch, if your suspicions are proved right.
The sun argument doesn't really come into it though, at this time of year, any adjacent unit would cast long shadows with the sun being very low.
