Hi,

I am looking to book this site for a 2 week stay in July, once pitched up I try to avoid using the car except for essential trips, could anyone please tell me if there is a bus stop within walking distance to aid getting the area.

Thanks in advance for any help.

    Let’s clarify which site.

Is it the Centenary site or Black Knowle?

Of the two sites mentioned above only Black Knowl would really meet your requirements. It is a reasonable walk into Brockenhurst, the site have details of a route which is a bit shorter than following the road. I have often looked at the Centenary site but to me it seems in the middle of nowhere although someone assured me that there was a bus service nearby. On the other hand there will be buses in Brockenhurst as well as a train station.

Black Knowl is the only site with nearby? public transport about 1.5 miles? walk via the "footpaths" from the site (map from site info room) to Brockenhurst where there are buses and trains,

Centenary is not good for alternative transport links. Black Knowl is much better with buses and a station available in Brockenhurst, as long as you don't mind a bit of a walk.

Looking at the aerial map shots I wondered if there is a walk through the wooded area to Bransgore where it looks as though it would be possible to get buses to surrounding areas.

    Thanks.

I don't recall any, although we were only there a few nights. The OS map, photo below, does not indicate any.

The site is just below the monument, blue star on right hand side.

If it's any help there are "tour bus" routes around the forest. It looks as though the blue route passes near the Centenary site (I can't quite see the actual distance) so you might find this useful. Personally I think the Brockenhurst site, Black Knowl is better placed for transport and some beautiful walks, the tour buses go through Brockenhurst too. It looks as though you can swap routes and stops.

Here's the LINK see the web site for timetables etc.

Live local no Bus service near Centenery or Bransgore even. They did try a summer one a few years back but stopped it.

Nearest station is Hinton Admiral 3.4 miles 7 min drive with small parking area on Waterloo-Weymouth line.

As pointed out Black Knowl is far better for public transport and walking
