Oh, I thought you said "trolls". 😮

I think they still have them in Scotland......

Not just Scotland

No tolls in Scotland - don't know about the others.
I never paid to go into Wales. It just depends on from where one is travelling . . . .

true, but they serve their apprenticeship there

The last few times I have been to Wales I have sneaked in by other routes! I don't have a particular problem with paying tolls but for the lorry firms it must be a disincentive so the removal of tolls will be a big advantage.

I was crafty on my tour a couple of years back. I started in the north and they didn't charge you to get out when returning over the Severn.

I thinks tintent was having a joke about trolls when he said they still had them is Scotland. You can also find them at an internet forum near you
No tolls anymore in Scotland.
Have been to the Trollstigen (Trolls Way) in Norway this year though.

So how come the vital link across the Thames from Essex to Kent, part of but not motorway, the M25 London orbital still has tolls? Unless you travel overnight. Oh I know they think all of us in the South East are rich!! Dont get me started................

The money is probably going towards the new Thames crossing?

I think not. 😤. We had an email asking for our views on the proposed crossing. Me thinks they're worried about their income! Even though the bridge and tunnels, like the M25, can hardly cope with the volume if traffic. It'll be decades before another crossing will be available.

Are you a frequent user of the Dartford Crossing?

No 😯. Really dislike the crossing, tunnel not so bad. Despite removal of toll booths it's still like a race track as drivers jostle for lanes. Wouldn't want to be in the nearside if you wanted the exit that's almost immediately after 😟😉😤. I'd love to explore more of Kent and Sussex. We have an account because son flew from Gatwick recently.

I heard that, now they have decided not to collect tolls on the Severn bridge, they have decided on a different strategy to raise cash...... Apparently they have installed a whole new set of speed cameras.... 😀😀😉😉
Speed cameras wouldn't achieve a lot on the M25... 😁
Just having one of those cynical days!

Can't say that its my favourite part of the UK road system but needs must as they say. I don't object to paying the toll as its not a lot of money. The new crossing is really only designed to connect to the M2 so I suppose you could see a split of traffic with the M20 traffic using the existing bridge.

Correct davidlkyne but the traffic will still want to go to the tunnel the shortest route will be off M2 at junction 3 over bluebell hill onto the M20 at junction 6 . A route that is already solid with traffic. And shut once a week for accidents .or come off junction 2 go though villages of cuxton, halling, snodland to junction 3 of the m 20 . That to is solid with traffic. I glad I won't be about then years from now.this part of Kent has become a concrete jungle.

When I took part in the Highways England consultation some months ago that was one of the points I made. If you are going to build a new crossing it needs to be supported on both sides of the river by good road connections and I would have thought that should include a motorway link to the M20. Unfortunately that does not currently seem to be in the plans? Having said that if you were going to the Channel Tunnel why would you use the new crossing rather than the Dartford?

I think they would use it depending on the traffic going tunnel/bridge. We all ready have lorries using bluebell hill that is one of the reasons the traffic is so bad. It's shorter than M25 and m20. As at that point it's only one and half miles from m2 to M20
