Did anyone else watch this excellent and thought provoking drama on BBC last night? 2 of my favourite actors, Sheridan Smith and Alison Steadman on top form and written by the always excellent Jimmy McGovern. A rather grim story but so well written and acted. If you missed it, try to make time to see it on catch up. smile

I've recorded it. Just got to get time to view! I thought it looked good and topical. Like you the main actors and writer should mean something worth watching.

Very much a play making a political point. Big question is, of course, how do we pay for it?

I watched it and thought it an excellent programme.  As somebody who's had to find residential care twice (for my own mum and my MIL) it brought back the frustrations we felt at the time, particularly the 'kitchen scene'.

I didn't but Margaret did and she said it was excellent, as you might expect from the two leading actors. Television is good at highlighting these issues but does it change anything, I was thinking of Cathy Come Home all those years ago!

Like Jill we had to find care for my Mum, firstly emergency care and finally after a second stay elsewhere a third and very good placement. But we were totally on our own doing this and I've had to bypass this story as it's too hard to relive any of it just now. My Mum didn't have Alzheimer's but I relied heavily on the Alzheimer's web site. There is help out there. smile
