I have used this sat.nav for the last year or so and it is my opinion that recommended directions are not programmed in!As a foreinstant I recently stayed at coniston coppice, the recommended route is to approach from the south,I live north of that site and the sat.nav.took me in from the north.I never trust the device for final approach, always look at the book!

I have just returned from a three club site visit to Scotland. At two of the sites the final instructions took me away from the correct route and presented me with major turning issues. I spent a lot of money with the specific thought that in this technological age of getting instructions all the way to the site. During a phone call to Avtex they said this was a problem with some sites and the club's cop out was to say not to follow sat nav in the instructions in our book. Why should we pay out this money on a programme that cannot deliver what it says in the adverts and on the screens ??

It seems Avtex just added the sites as POI,s.No one has programmed the correct approaches. In this respect,it is just a standard sat nav.Disappointing, considering the cost.

Are POI's actually clever enough to pin point a particular route? A POI should be created from the GPS position nearest if not the actual entrance to the campsite. What route it takes to that entrance might well depend on other settings on the sat nav. I have a TomTom complete with Camper Maps and I use either the Club's own POI's or Archies POI's and have experience very few problems in getting to a site by the best route. We were once on a campsite in Germany which we reached by proper roads but did notice several units arrival along what I would call nothing more than a forest road so there is scope to go wrong! What I like about my current sat nav is that I can review the destination so its easy to pick up any potential problems on arrival.

If you look in the manual for the tourer one it states that the final approach to club sites may not be the same as the Club directory, wether you think that’s acceptable or not is a personal thought process.
I myself have never relied on a sat nav to get the final approach done as in a lot of cases the book clearly states DO NOT USE SAT NAV FOR FINAL APPROACH

I bought the Avtex Tourer one plus, because i wanted an integrated dashcam. The lane deviation and proximity warnings are useful,as is the ability to enter vehicle dimensions.I generally use the sat nav,in conjunction with the club directory.I guess the solution is to modify the final approach in the route planner by adding the details from the directory.

I haven't got my Handbook near me at the moment, its in the van! Does it give a GPS location? If not the post code would be too general to pinpoint the entrance so there will still be the likelihood that it may take a different route. If its any help I copy the map on the site page and copy it into word so that I can enlarge it and then add the instructions by copy and paste. That way as I approach any site I have two choices and it should be easy to steer the way of the printed map.
