Peugeot Boxer Sat Nav
Just wondered if anyone has a fairly recent motorhome based on a Peugeot Boxer with a Peugeot built in sat nav. Would appreciate any views on the sat nav and whether you can load your own POI's?

My Citroen Relay is essentially the same vehicle and comes with a Trafficmaster Smartnav. This is an "intelligent" navigation system which takes account of roadside data about traffic from the trafficmaster network. It is also a non proactive tracker.
I am not sure if the system you want to know about is the same. If it is I can comment (hopefully usefully). There are pros and cons if it is not the same system I will keep my powder dry.

My base vehicle is a 2016 Boxer. The SatNav is, shall we say, idiosyncratic. It comes up with the oddest routes. I haven't found a way to add POI files. It appears that they can only be added individually, so apart from a few favourites which you could probably find without a SatNav anyway, it hardly seems worth it. Updating the maps is a bit of a palaver as well.
If I could find a way to unhook the dashboard clipboard without breaking it, I'd probably strap a tablet with Co-Pilot to it.

It’s the same one I had in my Fiat MH. Stripped down version of TomTom software with no way of putting in a POI file apart from one at a time. I removed the head unit and fitted a Blaupunkt Sat Nav / DAB Radio. Not an easy swap as the Fiat Sat Nav is not a double din unit and you have to get the Drexel out to remove some of the dash to get a double din cage in. The Blaupunkt is Android based so along with IGO Software I also have CoPilot Truck as well.

CY , I wanted to work out how mine worked and as a bit aprehension as I couldn't see how to do it.....but it is really easy but you need to be a bit brave....
i thought the 'lock' switch had something to do with it but that's only for opening and 'locking' the tablet/phone in places...
to raise the tablet hower all you do is grab it at the far (windscreen) end and pull smoothly upwards.....the thing cantilevers up and towards you.
once raised, you can use the lock lever to open the bracket which holds the phone/tablet....
it looks so easy in this video, but it's the confidence needed to raise the thing that's not explained...good luck....

Not all models have the moving stand.....if you have the 'lock' symbol on the left then it must be the moveable one.
the retainer is just a push fit thing, I guess some might be tighter than others. I'll try and get a pic later.

CY, the first pic shows the opening left behind after raising the clipboard.
the small square 'hole' at the head of the unit (left of photo) is where the retainer slots in....it's a push/pull fitting.
the second picture shows the 'tablet holder' arms unlocked which is dome by pulling the upper end of the 'unlock' plastic lever away from the clipboard ....

As far as I can make out, all built-in vehicle Sat Navs suffer from the same problems. No connectivity by cable, WiFi or Bluetooth to an external source so you have to periodically buy update DVDs at exhorbitant cost and cannot load POIs. If I had updated my BMW maps from new it would have cost me about £2000!

The Boxer map update is marginally better. You download the TomTom files to a USB stick and it seems to update the whole shebang soI think you lose anything you had previously put in.
