Strictly Who?

Apart from a female news presenter, a very brave young lady who was the victim of an acid attack and someone I kind of recognise from a long time ago - the new lineup of this years' Strictly contestants doesn't exactly seem to be terribly exciting or indeed contain many celebrities I've heard of. It must be an 'age' thing, but I'm willing to bet as you walk past caravans on site on a Saturday evening, the majority of the occupants will be tuned in! (Not that I'm a nosey-Parker!) 😉😀

    Some good "Celebs" there.....

We like Danny John-Jules from Death in Paradise, Faye Tozer from Steps, Stacy Dooley, we watch her documentaries, but my favourite is probably going to be the well known Pussy cat Ashley.....!

I must admit its only Kate Silverton and Stacy Dooley that immediately spring to mind as people I have heard of. Perhaps its me but they both have serious credentials in news broadcasting.

Who’s going to be the comic act this year do you think? I’m guessing it’ll be Danny John Jules.

I saw the line-up on The One Show last night and recognised him and Katie Piper.

Don't know any of the so called celebrities apart from Kate Silverton.  -- But the show could benefit by not having that huffy old dear called Shirley Ballas as a judge.

Strictly was always worth watching, BUT,  this year I'm not sure.  A load of Z list so called "Celebrities" combined with a Questionable Judge in that Ballas woman ----and ---- just announced, "Same Sex dancing" ---- the idea of two guys doing the Argentine Tango might be really amusing though. laughing  The show might not attract the following it had in the past.

Now that the Beeb has introduced us to all this years' contestants, it seems that the excitement and expectations are growing daily. I'm expecting another blockbusting, ratings topping, glittering, spectacular! Bring it on 😀💃🕺

I have to say, Im a fairly new 'Strictly' fan, and although I havent heard of many of the celebrities, Im still looking forward to it.  The big question is, will my friends be running a sweepstake this year?

JR you can look 👀 in our van and you would be disappointed as we never carry a TV, and that’s why I don’t recognise any of the participants ☺️

Neither do we, unless England Rugby are playing and if they are, we don't normally venture out!

We like to read, listen to the radio, chat and play scrabble and take the pup for walks, but when at home we do enjoy this dance extravaganza, our touring over now until the Christmas break.

I've given in, I'm watching it and enjoying it and I was quite surprised to see some good first time dancing last night. smile

I thought it was probably the best opening show, as far as talent goes. I can't remember many 'cringeworthy' moments and for 7's & 8's to be awarded in the first instalment, bodes well for the future. Will someone repeat Ed Ball's Gangnam dance? Hope so!

Well I am pleased to say our friends are organising a Strictly sweepstake again this year.  I have drawn the old chap from Red Dwarf - Danny.  Carol has drawn Seann (the comedian chap).  They don't seem such a well known group this year.  Danny had some good comments and marks last Saturday, so I'm cautiously optimistic about how far my pound will go this year!  smile

Whilst the celebrities may not be that well known, it doesn’t really matter. It’s an entertainment show and there have been some very good dances so far from many of them, and so early on in the series. Bodes well for the coming weeks 😀

Plus we have a very early ‘scandal’ as it’s being called with Seann & Katya being caught getting a little too close 😱. All fuelled by his ex’s very public reaction, all a little OTT and soon to be yesterday’s news - will serve to help the ratings though and not the first or last victims of the Strictly curse as the Beeb call it.

All in all, another good series with some cracking performances yet to come I’m sure.

Wow! One kiss and the entertainment world has gone mad, the press are printing reams of dribble, the social media warriors are sparring like Romans and it even gets coverage on the Beeb!

Yes, it was silly. Seann - you're an idiot, apologies accepted. Let's move on and see some more dancing, especially if it is as spectacular as the superbly choreographed Paso Doble shown last weekend

And so to Blackpool and the intensity is increasing. I have grown to like the participants in this years show and have my own favourites, but I wonder how many Club members will be tuned in whilst on site this Saturday?

Sadly, we're not away again until Christmas so will watch from the sofa

It's not been so interesting this year. Unknown " Celebrities " except Kate Silverton,   poor judgement from that Ballas woman and rubbish guest singers.--- What is always good is the live singing and music from the resident band and singers. plus the superb dancing skills of the slim nubile young professional female dancers.--- All helps to make the show watchable.

When I used to watch it in black and white they all had numbers on their backs so you could tell them apart. Whatever has happened to BBC?

Yes indeed.  The pound went a week last Saturday.  Didn't even make it to Blackpool.  However, I think the contest is quite close.  Quite a few good dancers left in.

I think/hope Ashley wins but the trouble is it's not a dance comp but a popularity comp.

I think it's less of a popularity show than the X-factor!.....and at least the judges make some constructive comments on Strictly.  I think the judging on X-factor is poor to non-existent, and the format is floored - essentially, the exit act is determined by two of the 4 judges - the other two appear to think they have a vested interest in 'their' acts!

I think, like most TV shows, it's cleverly rigged for maximum audience participation but it's an enjoyable format. wink

Last night that Ballas woman completely screwed up announcing the points scores and got a Professional Dancer's name completely wrong. ---------------As a Dancing show Strictly entertains,, but would be much better without that Shirley Ballas as a judge.

Dont know who's tablet was to blame for Saturday's Lindy Hop cock-up, but what was most fascinating was to see the judges "favourite" Ashley voted into the bottom two by the public!

She is very unpopular on "unsocial" media with Stacey and Joe being firm favourites. Perhaps being a professional dancer to start with is no longer working in her favour albeit she's an excellent one

Is that the stuff they put in our tea when doing National Service?  If so, I think it might be begining to work.
