Evening all, after owning a few caravans we have taken the plunge and now own a 2017 Adria MH, my apologies if some of my queries have already been discussed....how do you change the clock between the dials? the settings mode switch to the right next to the fog lamps only give  limited options, beep volume, service, that's about it, Ive tried everything! our van has a Pioneer AVIC-F980DAB camper nav fitted not the factory fit job so you cant alter the clock that way, any one got any idea what I can try would be appreciated.

we have just been away for two weeks in it and we had a pressure release valve type  noise fairly constant is this normal with the truma combi? it did smell at times like a hot iron smell mainly if we put the hot water into hot setting , most the time it was in eco. tbh we didn't seem to have a lot of hot water in eco mode

cheers

    You should find the answer to your clock setting issue in your Fiat manual. It’s quite complicated and I can’t describe it to you. Alternatively look on YouTube - a good source of info.

    The only other thing I can say is that we, too, smell our water heating up due to the pipe insulation getting hot.

    Your supplying dealer should be able to answer all your points.

    On second thoughts, our is a Pug probably using slightly different electronics so the Fiat may be less involved.

    My Avic F980DAB changed the time automatically at the weekend. I can only assume it synced with my phone clock which is Bluetoothed when I use it.

    I'll check my AVIC in the morning, it is also sync'd to my phone so may have done it automatically, too...I drove the van today but didn't notice the time on the AVIC. shpuld it need changing, there is a settings Icon (COG wheels) which opens the settings menu  clock should be in there.

    however, I did notice the Fiat clock was wrong and changed it while waiting at a set of traffic lights.....it's pretty easy....less than 10 secs...

    but your post suggests you perhaps have slightly different 'menu' options.

    on ours.....press mode, press down arrow to scroll through options, 3rd/4th is Time.

    press Mode again, clock Hour digit flashes, press Up/Down to change.

    press Mode again to keep changes.

    done.

    ...just to add, our AVIC did change its time correctly by itself...it's also linked to my iPhone so picks time changes up from there.

    Our AVIC changed the time automatically last weekend but I can’t do anything with the mode/setting switch, press mode and scroll....all l get scrolling through is beeps, limiter and the service schedule, the clock on the dash is wrong and I can’t seem to change it as it doesn’t come up as an option to adjust scrolling through.

    R&K saw this on a MHFun thread...

    "Turn the ignition to acc position first, then you will get the correct mode when pushing the button."

    couldnt find whether this did the trick or not but worth trying.

    R&K, how did you get on?.....

    might be useful for others with a similar issue....having an incorrect clock is a right pain.....for some, anyway.

    The ECU has been told that you have a Radio / Sat Nav fitted. If this was an original Fiat one then you can change the clock from the Radio. As it is not original then you cannot.

    Have a word with your Local Fiat Professional Dealer and get the software altered to tell the ECU you don't have a Radio. It will then display the Time and Date change on the small screen.

    I had similar problems when I removed the rubbish Fiat Sat Nav / Radio and fitted a Blaupunkt 945 instead. Took me weeks to sort out what was wrong.

    Q4, I have a Pioneer AVIC fitted to my 2017 Ducato and, as it is linked to my phone (and therefore the outside world....) it knew that the time had changed and so it changed itself to mirror that...

    however, the Ducato clock did not change, but I was able to change this  so easily and quickly (as I have previously) that I did it while waiting at a set of traffic lights...

    the OPs issue is that he doesn't seem to have the same options as I have on the Ducato menu for clock setting....in that case I would expect this to be a result of having a Fiat upgraded head unit which also controls the clock settings...

    however, I reckon your post is the wrong way round compared to my own experience....though I am more than happy to have misunderstood your post....smile

    Ok .. Lets start again ..

    We have a Laika 712 Ecovip ( 2016 Euro 5+ ) and it came with a factory fitted with a Uconnect 5 SatNav / Radio. The SatNav used a cut down version of TomTom and maps were out of date to start with. It was also impossible to add a POI file as this had been removed from the stripped down version.

    So I decided to fit a Blaupunkt 945 SatNav / Radio. This is an Android based unit that can also send information to a secondary display. The secondary display I used was the one fitted for the reversing camera. So I now have two displays one in the middle and one to the right of the steering wheel. Other applications can be added so I have a speed overlay which gets round the problem of not being able to see the speedo clearly.

    When I changed the Head Unit I noticed that you could not set the clock as the Blaupunkt does not send any information to the Fiat CanBus as its not connected to it. I asked my local Fiat Professional Dealer to have a look at it and they updated the Software on the ECU. This just made matters worse as the Milage Indicator started to flash. This means that the ECU has a problem.

    After a couple of further visits and some updates from Fiat we had the Time / Date setting on the small screen as an option but the Milage Indicator was still flashing.

    I spent an hour in the cab with their tech guy and found out that it was the Steering Wheel Control Unit that I had fitted that was responsible for the error. This was disconnected and everything worked as it should. Except that is the SWC which didn't.

    The settings for the ECU were to tell it that it didn't have a SatNav fitted anymore and not to look for it as it was missing. This is one of the functions of the ECU it checks to make sure all the electronic items that are connected to the CanBus are present and working. It also flags up an error if it finds anything that should not be there.

    So after many hours I finally had a system that worked but still no SWC. If you fitted the SWC decoder to the CanBus it just started the Milage Flashing. When I had the hour with the Tech guy in the cab he said that the SWC Unit was trying to tell the CanBus that it was an Information System. Some sort of plug and play that the ECU did not understand.

    The solution to this was to open the unit and cut the TX line to the CanBus control chip. As the unit could not send any information the ECU did not know it was there. The SWC Unit just acts as a listener and when it hears the SWC Commands it translates them into information that the Blaupunkt SatNav can understand.

    Thanks goto Sherwood Van and Truck who put up with my phone calls and requests for assistance and their Tech Guy who went the extra mile just to get it sorted.

    The problem the OP has is the fact that the Date / Time option is missing from the small screen. So the ECU needs reprogramming so that it shows up. This is not something a Dealer can do and he would need to goto a Fiat Professional Dealer to get it sorted as they have access to the latest updates from Fiat and can discuss the problem with the Factory.

    Our 2016 model just changes the time automatically like when we came back from Europe last week the clock automatically changed to UK time when we switched on.  We have never changed anything and it changes with the DST in spring and autumn.  Below is the Fiat Handbook details of how to change time.

    Setting the clock (Set
    time)
    This function allows you to set the clock
    through two submenus: “Time” and
    “Format”.
    To carry out the adjustment, proceed as
    follows:
    - briefly press the MODE button and
    two submenus, "Time" and "Format",
    will be displayed;
    - press the or button to
    switch between the two submenus;
    - once you have selected the submenu
    to be changed, press button MODE
    briefly;
    - if you enter the "Time" submenu,
    pressing the MODE button briefly
    makes the "hours" flash on the display;
    - press the or button to
    adjust;
    - briefly press the MODE button: the
    "minutes" starts to flash on the display;
    - press the or button to
    adjust;
    – if you enter the "Format" submenu,
    pressing the MODE button briefly
    makes the display format flash on the
    display;
    - press the or button to
    select "24h" or "12h" mode.
    When you have made the adjustment,
    briefly press the MODE button to go
    back to the submenu screen or hold
    the button down to go back to the main
    menu screen without storing.
    - press the MODE button again to
    return to the standard screen or to the
    main menu according to where you
    are in the menu.
    Setting the date (Set
    Date)
    This function allows updating of the
    date (day - month - year).
    Proceed as follows to update:
    - briefly press the MODE button: the
    day starts flashing on the display (dd);
    - press the or button to
    adjust;
    - briefly press the MODE button: the
    month starts flashing on the display
    (mm);
    - press the or button to
    adjust;
    - briefly press the MODE button: the
    year starts flashing on the display
    (yyyy);
    - press the button or for
    setting.
    Note The setting will increase or
    decrease by one unit each time the
    or button is pressed.
    Keeping the button pressed causes an
    automatic rapid value increase/
    decrease. Complete the adjustment
    with single presses of the button when
    you approach the desired value.
    - press the MODE button briefly to
    return to the menu screen or hold the
    button down to return to the standard
    screen without storing.

    Thanks for the replies all, if it was as straight forward as following the fiat manual I wouldn't have come on here for advise on trying to sort this issue out, I have been to the dealer we bought the van off now and they have booked it in to have a look along with a couple of other little niggles things to sort. I think along with a couple of other posters there may well be a problem with the way the unit is wired causing an issue with the setup menus, anyway we will see, fingers crossed they can sort it as its annoying I cant access the settings at all, would think this is a common issue when changing the stock Fiat radio/nav unit.

    cheers all.

    The Dealer will not be able to sort it unless they are also a Fiat Professional Approved Workshop with access to Fiat software. Thats why I suggested you take it to someone who knows what they are doing. The ECU needs reprogramming to give you the options to change the time on the mini display.

    Up date for those who may come across the same problem.

    The pioneer AVIC camper model was retro fitted from new, apparently it needs a different wiring loom which has now been done, all settings for the vehicle can now be done through the pioneer unit using the steering wheel controls.  Only problem now is the nav doesn’t work because a wire has been left unconnected, frustrating to say the least because it’s got to go back.

    Can anyone tell me how to take the iPad holder off?  For the life of me I can’t find a way to pull the pioneer unit out to see if it’s anything obvious. Can’t even find a utube clip!

    One thing we have noticed/learnt is the Motorhome Industry and the way it operates is......different, a polite way to put it.

    this simplest clip I could find showing how to open the iPad holder, once done there are screws set inside (I think) to allow removal...
