Nice site. I agree the wardens are very helpful and friendly.

We had a very large pitch right by the (upgraded) MHSP. 👍🏻

It’s the carnival season. Lots of towns and villages have them around now. Bridgwater is the most well known and probably the biggest. That’s usually on Nov 5th.

Did see something about “carnival town” as we drove through Bridgwater. It’s not somewhere we know round here. It’s gone quiet now, and it is half term so lots of things for children.

Strange that you should mention the fireworks, tda, as we've heard them for the last 2 nights here at Stover, but tonight's were the loudest and longest.....stopped now thankfully.

Wardens here organised a Halloween party this evening. Good to see many kids dressed up and having a good time.

Yes, we've arrived at several sites and been greeted by a member of the Home Guard, an Elvis, a Witch, a Santa etc. All in the name of Charity and all done with a cheery and personable greeting.

Of course that 'usual' welcoming arrival is important and I'm sure it's important to the vast majority of us friendly fellow members.

Our worse club site greeting was "sorry but the service pitch you have booked is not available till tomorrow so pitch anywhere tonight and move on to a service pitch tomorrow" frown

How did you cope? I suspect that would have had a few hitting the “Dear Caravan Club, I was appalled.........” button. smile

Was a reason given as to why the serviced pitch was not available? did the occupant of "your" booked pitch have to stay on as they had a problem?undecided

Possibly could have been that the Warder's friends had decided to stay for another night.  Understandable, but not the end of the world. laughing

That is the worst greeting I have read in this thread, I really hope you survived the night without too much hardship frown It sort of puts everything else into perspective.

I dought if would have been wardens friends as they would have been on the prime pitch next to warden  to be close for entertaining not next to toilets as thats where most service pitches arewink

Supposedly it was an emergency, I did complain to the club about another problem at the site that was not resolved by the wardens but I was told they could not recall our visit, strange no that emergency was logged to jog their memory

So, you wanted a serviced pitch and none was available until 'tomorrow',  the warden apologised but were you too big to accept that?

Were you aware of any crisis the current occupier may have been undergoing?

Seems to me that some people are expecting perfection every time and not allowing any grace should their expectations not be met.

Try and relax old son, you might enjoy life a bit more.

What you class as an emergency,is possibly not what an on site "emergency" that would need logging?ie broken down car or,tummy upset, that caused a member to not be able to vacate a pitch, and its the same as the other"problem" you had,i do not think we have gone  that far into a "nanny state" that every thing has to be "logged"undecided

Without any additional information as to the reason for the service pitch being unavailable, it is impossible to say wether its unavailability was justified. If a caravan tow car had broken down, I would have thought the wardens could have towed the van to the pitch they expected you to use. However, if it was a MH this wouldn't have been possible. Similarly if someone was taken ill, it would be a little insensitive to expect them to move.

I think you'll find it's good practice to log or note certain things, disputes and complaints etc as well as medical events. It's not a nanny state it's useful to have if there is any unexpected come back.

As far as the OP states, yes a welcoming arrival sets the tone for a stay on a site. smile
