Peugeot HDi 2.2 starting problem
10 year old Peugeot Boxer (100bhp), stopped at filling station having driven 1 mile from home; vehicle would not start, engine turning over but not start. Low fuel warning light came on (still half a tank) and fuel gauge show empty, pre-start ignition and oil lights came on as normal but no other electrics worked, electric windows, lights etc.
Breakdown service came out to recover but claimed started first time (had been pushed across garage forecourt). They have had vehicle a week and claim has started every time all week and have been unable to replicate fault or fully explain cause - any suggestions?
Still under warranty so need to know cause if possible.
Thanks
Howard

Intermittent faults are very difficult to find as, if it works when you test it, there is little you can do. The ECU is a computer and often just turning it off and on again will reset it.
We had a similar problem on our Merc Sprinter. It was eventually traced to a faulty electrical relay that powered the ECU. Your problem sounds like an intermittent relay or ignition switch fault. It may even be a fault in the instrument cluster display.
