I've voted - have you?

I lost faith in Greville when he ripped the back end off of the caravan he was towing on that stupid TV program. Far too fast and too direct.
I thought he was an experienced caravanner?? Obviously not.
Wouldnt vote for him.....even as a Warden.

"The club needs new blood, younger members pressing for change and progress."
Easy to say that, but where is this new blood coming from? The "younger generation" seem to lead impossibly busy lives and have little time for voluntary activities. For many years now, I've been running quiz nights for Arthritis charities. One branch has folded and another is on the point of following suit because they simply can't attract "new blood". So if the current incumbents wish to continue, why not? Doesn't mean I'll be voting for them though!

Not enough information on the candidates for a meaningful vote really. I’m not really bothered about COTY antics either
However for not knowing that the estates dept were putting forward cc owned sites as potential residential allocations and not withdrawing the submissions when made aware of them; for the appalling ‘mission statement’ of the clubs values after the rebrand; for the HS trial debacle and for the general boring marketing strategy I’ve voted for the first time. Two people got votes against from me and one of them was the chairman.
Nice chap he may be and volunteer he may be but he’s the chairman of a club that’s moving in a direction that I feel alienated from.

Exactly because he has a free ride this way after spending more of members money on the pertinence of a vote, shame on him

Thanks for the voting offer BUT it needs young blood, not oldies like us and the complete C&MC board

Excellent suggestion that would show the real support or not

Anyway, young blood does not necessarily bring good new ideas. Lack of experience and maturity could trigger some disastrous ideas.

There are so many people who come up with what needs doing in so many organisations ,but when it comes to actually standing up and being counted, will nearly always duck out of sight but still try to push for things to happen for their own ends normally, as long as they do not have to put any real effort into it,

Just looked at the exec on the website hoping for some guidance.
I have no doubt that the exec are well meaning and productive bunch but can they really develop the club in the right direction.
Why do I ask this? Quite frankly this must be the least diverse organisation in the country.
Any £100m pound business with this exec demographic would surely have to ask itself if its executive are able to represent a membership with this total lack of diversity. Come on chaps you really must try harder on this one.

I've looked at the voting pages and think it's a bit of a joke, why, I'll explain.
You can only vote for or against the nominated person or abstain. It would be a much more meaningful exercise if there was an alternative candidate . Also it's interesting that most of the candidates are proposed by other candidates, that seems a bit cosy to me.
Apologies if I've repeated another post I didn't have the will to read them all.

The phrase you are looking for is "jobs for the boys"

They all fall into the RWM ( rich, white, male) category and of 37 "options" there are 8 women. Hardly reflective of the demographic of the club.
I voted against them all for the record
I do wonder what the demographic of the club is but the top is certainly unrepresentative of what I see on club sites.
We do need an injection of new youthful blood. I fear this will not happen as the club members are perceived as old fuddy duddies and the increasing ownership of very expensive motorhomes will only serve to enhance this perception. As they are only "affordable" to the wealthy recently retired.

Another insult to club members!
2 -
apart from the insults, and total nonsense as if you go to a club site in peak you will see that there are a wide age range of campers, with young families and most often will certainly not be retired, hence the weekenders.
Apart from that a few questions
Are club sites managed well?
Are club sites clean, tidy, high standards?
Are club site popular?
Is the club making money, has money to buy new sites, refurbishments?
If the answer is yes then do you really care who runs the club?
I also suspect that apart from a few on CT here, if you ever asked those actually staying on site who the chair or secretary or... are very few would know.

And in the peak periods when schools are closed,,i think you will find numerous wealthy? recently retired, will have their grand children in tow as they are the "unpaid child minders"for those who are at work be it single parents(very popular these days it seems)ore both parents working to pay the ever increasing bills

Win - have you read through the thread? Did you see my post on page 4? Where exactly is this "young blood" expected to come from?
I haven't ever voted for the club committee. For me the club seems pretty well run and when I use its sites I'm never disappointed. Seems to me that maybe we should express some gratitude that there are folk willing to put themselves forward in the first place, however unrepresentative they may be, until such time that others are equally willing to stand.

and I might be wrong but these are not paid positions are they?
0 -
RWM - how do you know they’re rich, Win? A sweeping assumption, I think.
0 -
so not jobs for the boys just volunteers?
0 -
so over to win then? where shall we get this new blood to work for nothing?
0 -
imagine if someone had written that the club was full of the opposite of RWM? Would that offend?

As I have stated before the club is a conundrum. Their articles state that it must be run for its members. Its executive are usually members who have given their time over the years in various posts and progressed to positions of power. But, the club is also a huge business with commercial responsibility to its members, who by and large are its customers.
This in my view leads to a few problems.
The influential roles are massively bias towards retired, professional, white males. This is not planned in any way but is a result of the demographic of the club being reflected in its leadership who generally come from the membership. There is also the practical aspects that they have time, they are influential in their professional lives, and they understand caravanning, so they make good candidates for the roles. I am not suggesting that they are in any way people of bias, I respect their commitment to the club. I would argue that they are not able to diversify the club due to their own very narrow diversity. This perpetuates the lack of diversity in the leadership.
Is this a problem?
In my opinion it will be.
There appears to be a real lack of understanding of the commercial world and how it relates in the modern world thus this is not a driving influence in the future of the club.
You could argue that the next generation will better utilise the club resources to monetarise the business aspects of the digital world but the digital world has demonstrated that followers don't survive, however established they once were.

Not really a club as no choice. The other club has proper elections and both people in family membership have a vote. Also increasing number of 5 van sites and proper publicity for the social rallying side. (As from January a full list with all details will be published monthly.) Try finding rally details in this club. Yes I’m a member of the other club and stay in this club to use the CLs, which are declining in number.
