If the weather is bad the snow gates will be closed on the A9 north of Perth and on other routes. Make sure you are well equipped for cold weather and possibly difficult driving conditions. Travel in the daylight and remember the days can be very short in mid-winter. You may not have any problems at all but after Christmas there will be a higher chance of low temperatures, snow and ice, so keep en eye on local forecasts.

Good attempts are made to keep the roads open but this can mean single track driving in bad conditions. The other possibility is lots of snow and lots of traffic heading for the ski slopes so I think that covers all eventualities! Hope you get there safely and have a good time.
