Should CMC sites be described better?

Maybe the non-CC sites are better described?

The site leaflet for Merrose Farm has a tin mine on it's cover, although Cornwall is famous for tin mining it doesn't quite represent what the Roseland area has to offer. St Agnes, with it's wonderful tin mine structures close to the site has a beach picture. St Agnes does have a beautiful beach but I wonder who chooses the photos?

That said, it pays to do your own research and not rely on someone in an office who's geography is worse than your own...wink

If you were to read the site info for Binham Grange before the club bought it you would think it was faultless in all respects, well that was so far from the truth,as we found out when we were there, some facilities were ok? but most areas were appalling

Some sites I'm happy to spend a few days on site without doing the tourist bit - chill time.

You can hardly say CMC campsites are of a constant standard over the network. River Breamish is an easy example - hardstanding pitches but you have to get to many over grass which earlier this year became a mudbath due to rain - easy enough in a Discovery but many other tow cars and motorhomes needed help getting out.

Phone signals vary by area but it would be good to know if you can expect any - emergencies at home do happen.

Wifi I personally like - use it rather than read papers - don't want to have to sit next to the laundry to get a signal or catch up on emails. I also use it to trawl the local whats on sites - not every place has tourist information

None of these would stop me using a site if it was in the right location but being prepared helps.

I agree being prepared helps, we use OS maps and the internet for most things, and Google Earth. Neither mentioned the glorious sunsets and starling murmuration we are enjoying nightly here though! smile

Yes, Solo, sites vary and that is surely a good thing. I think all the things you want to know are already covered on the website. Perhaps you just need to read the site pages in a bit more depth. It’s all there for you from info re wifi and phone and TV signals to pitch info and availability.

The things that Solo wants to know are not adequately covered on the individual site pages with the possible exception of TV.

Nor is the information on phone signal covered for all sites on the booking page.

Where is it? In the site leaftet - when? Often!

I gave an example up-thread of the details for Moorhampton. No mention of there being no phone signal that I could see. Many leaflets mention the site having wifi but do not say whether bronze, sliver etc.

Have a look at both Bolton Abbey and Moorhampton and tell me where it mentions phone signal. It used to.

Seems you’ve already checked it, Easy.

However, the following is a screenshot of Bolton Abbey site info leaflet. I can’t be bothered looking at them all.

I don’t think either site has any mobile signal at all.

I sense a need for standardisation of sites leaflets.

Much my view TW. The information used to be there for both sites when I went previously. A good few years back.

I gather from some posts it is now expected to "advise members" not only if there is mobile phone cover but also which supplier is and is not  available surprised

Neither no WiFi nor mobile phone signal would put us off. If there’s an emergency our family know what site we are on and would only contact us if it was a dire emergency.

And add no TV signal to my list.

All sites can be contacted by phone and  the site staff can also be contacted via EGH to their mobile if needed

My only family is my two daughters (and two grandsons). They would have no idea where we were on our travels. If they can't contact me by phone they can always send a text. I will get it sometime. To some people TV might be important as might phone or even wifi. So information should be available.

    Absolutely correct, Husky.

Something doesn’t add up in what JV said. Perhaps it was Asda who use EE.
