Should CMC sites be described better?
According to facilities as a starter, but access, ease of booking may all come into it
Examples ….
Wifi - Site coverage or a dodgy hotspot.
Toilets - Closed for cleaning or alternative available
Ease of booking - Occupancy %
Ease of access - some are down twisty lanes
TV signal - easy or 4 channels thru a cable

Most site are "busy" at times, then there are the few honey pot sites that are full nearly all the time, if you look at "late availability" it will give three weeks advance notice of availability at the time you look,so it will give an idea of what to expect

As a rough guide, look at the site prices. Those with less or, lower grade facilities, tend to be cheaper - eg some racecourse sites.
Wifi is graded and it’s on the site info page. Hover over the dates available either a mouse and you can see availability in approximate terms - eg 'less than 5'.
TV info is either on the site page of in the site’s leaflet which you can download.
Late availability for weekends is accessed from the front page -

I think just about everything you want is already published, Solo.

There could be all sorts of reasons for that, not least the rolling upgrade program.
I think you see conspiracies where none exist, Solo.

Club has facilities and assortment of sites to suit all tastes and budgets. We have used some of the larger sites with lots of facilities and found them less to our taste, whilst some of the more basic ones are very nice. All depends what you need and want.

And that's one of the reasons it would be interesting to see the figures - where can we find them?
Notwithstanding a Gold Silver Bronze classification would be a great assistance. Quick easy way to aid site selection and set member expectations

That would be really confusing with Wi-fi already graded gold, silver, bronze.
Did you read my post giving info about availability?

I think apart from what seems a few professional complainers about club sites and facilities, the majority of members it seems are quite satisfied with what the club provide in all areas, which is born out by the need for more and sites to cater for them, without the need for any grading system although some have ETB gradings from local areas

Sorry if you think I'm a professional complainer - simply made a reasonable suggestion that facilities are reflected in a grading system.
Many of the club sites I use are excellent but equally there are a good number that have issues. Speaking to the wardens they are aware of the issues and have reported them to regional reps.

To be honest, I never choose a site because of its WiFi or TV signal. I am more interested in being in a nice location, surrounded by lots of things to do and see. I’m not really interested in the staff loo cleaning rotas or the pitch occupancy levels either. I have a life to live before I start worrying about such trivia. My OH has permission to shoot me once I start fretting about such guff!

Previous page 18.55.
PS. It should read '…with a mouse…'

I did but a paragraph break was missing and two topics ran in together. Try this.

Generally I think enough information is provide for us to make a reasoned decision on wether to visit a site or not. We have never yet come across one that we have not found acceptable. Some we prefer more than others and these remain on our list for future visits.
As far as access is concerned, a bit of research on Google gives this information. I would never totally trust what is written in any event, we have noticed a few mistakes over the years.
I am not sure how an overall star rating would work. Presumably a site with no facilities would not be highly rated, although would be perfect for someone who was happy to use there own,
Personally the only bit of information that I have found wanting is that on mobile telephone signals. This is often vague, as in some networks do not work. We went through a phase of needing to be contactable and this meant checking with the warden, if one of our two networks worked.

A little more local info wold be useful, supermarkets get a mention but rarely handy local shops etc. Also public transport which is often vague and unrealistic. I dislike sites being described as being somewhere they're not, eg one mile to Ilminster from the "Ilminster" site is actually 6 miles and it's easier to drive to Chard.

I am inclined to agree with Solobay. Part of this year included Moorhampton near Hereford. If you look at the site leaflet it tells you 'TV poor, Wifi hotspot' and no mention of phones. If, instead, you use the site facilities drop down it tells you 'wifi, TV poor'.
So, for me the drop down is useless. If I want wifi I do not want 'a hotspot'. It does tell me poor TV. It does not mention phone.
The leaflet is little better but does at least say that wifi is hotspot only.
On other sites with wifi no where on the booking page does it say the standard to expect. For that info I would have to dig elsewhere into the CC website.
We knew that the site had no phone reception, no proper wifi and poor TV. Surely the info could be better and it is ridiculous that the info does not include the fact that there is no telephone.
We don't watch TV in the caravan, I almost never watch it at any time. Happy for no wifi but prefer a phone signal if no wifi. In this instance we knew what to expect but others may not

Perhaps the wifi classifications should be changed from, gold, silver, bronze to wood, hay, stubble.

Is it me but have the new site information leaflets been dumbed down since the redesign? There seems to be far more information on what to do outside the site rather than what is actually available onsite. I know this does not apply to everyone but often public transport is not mentioned. Even a note saying no public transport near site would help. Phone signal availability is an essential piece of information to most people.

Campsites are just somewhere to park your touring accommodation. What more do customers need. --------- The important information is what to do and see when you are in that particular area, which is easily found on the internet or the appropriate Tourist Information Centre.----------------As many on here have said, CMC campsites are of a constant standard over the network. That standard, on the scale of, awful to excellent, can be described as "relatively good". That is a good recommendation to consider a CMC site if it happens to be in the right location.
