It's official...we are crazy for campervans

I think that there are a minority of members - both caravanner and motorhomers- that feel similarly in regard to showers and EHU.
I think that there are a greater number of members willing to forego site showers etc than that are willing to forego electric. I certainly fall into this group.

I did??

Of course I don’t speak for all, MT. I recognise that and agree entirely. I’d never be so presumptuous as to think otherwise but it wasn’t me who made the sweeping statement "Hopefully it will feed into site provisions to give more of what motorhomers and campervanners want!!!!" which implies we all want the same thing.

Yes I understand fully now, thanks TW and ET
You cannot beat experience in these matters

I think, and, I may have got it wrong but BB also want these pitches to be cheaper even if booked?

The club/clubs,comercial sites all cater for their core site users, and when noting the the majority of posts on any forum or letters pages, the things most "talked about"are the lack of facilities, not wanting less,so i think you could be p****g into the wind

ET/JVB I do not want EHU or showers all the while but on most club sites I get them. I do not need a huge pitch for an overnight stay but on a club site I get one
so why are you choosing a club site and paying for things you do not want? It sounds as if you are being forced to choose and pay for a club site? I really don't understand at all?
1 -
no it does not at all. The club offers a certain type of site. If you , or one, does not want that type then do not join the club or go to a club site.
Just because you are a member, (you joined of your own free will) does not mean the club has to suit your needs. You make a choice to join the club or use it's sites.

Did they have ‘blue sky thinking’ in the 1950’s JV?, I thought it a more modern term🤔

I think you have misunderstood completely BB. It is nothing to do with me or even what I want or even as you put it interests me, (unless you are saying I cannot post as it does not?) it was MichaelT who said:
I do not want EHU or showers all the while but on most club sites I get them. I do not need a huge pitch for an overnight stay but on a club site I get one
I was just wondering why, and indeed asked MichaelT why, if he does not want these things he buys them (parts in bold) or keeps joining the club?
I for one do not buy something I do not want

I agree BB that for a one/two night stop, most vans (MH and caravans) wouldn't need EHU. However the majority want EHU.
I was just wondering why, and indeed asked MichaelT why, if he does not want these things, he buys them
Maybe for the same reason as I do much of the time with regards to washroom/shower facilities Cornersteady. I have no need of such facilities but most of the sites that I use whether CC, C&CC or private have the facilities and it I want to use such sites I have to pay for them whether I use them or not.
I for one do not buy something I do not want
When I buy something that I want it does not mean that I want all the components that are included. A hotel that I stayed at one night in September had air con and a TV. Neither of which I wanted nor used.

Yes true but you knew these things were there? If it bothered you that much then you wouldn't have gone or I suppose a part of the 'deal' interested you more and were willing to pay for that alone and ignore the things you don't want. I understand there are parts of a product you do not use or want.
However... Michael T does not want EHU, or does not want showers, or does not want a large pitch? What is left to want?
Also he knows club sites are like this and still goes there? (I get one)
I wonder what part of a club he is going for? The washing up area? the dog walk? I suppose you could say location but I can't think of any club site that I have been to where there is not another non club site nearby?

I generally don't use CLs, car parks or CS sites. Other alternative main sites have the same facilities included. Perhaps Michael knows this also. No idea how much use he makes of the alternatives.

And so it goes round and round, nearly everyone pays for things we do not need to use,Its a fact of life.and those who "buy" a product but do not need the full use of what goes with it all the time, but may use it at sometime not buy anything these days, as i would think that no one who posts on here, if honest, will not agree

"and sometimes, companies see a service niche (or it being offered elsewhere) and they introduce it so as their own loyal customers don't have to go elsewhere..."
Possibly true, BB, but the point surely is that, at present, this "service niche" is not being offered by any of the club's competitors as far as I can see. If there were sufficient demand, surely the private/commercial sector would be all over it like a rash?

I had one last week at Hurn Lane. I swear you could have parked 4 vans like ours on it. Lovely, it was. 👍🏻

I think perhaps David is trying to suggest that our pitches are but a spec of dust compared to pitches over there (where the deer a the antelope play...)

Still at school?😂😂😂😂😂, yeah right🤪🤪. So you don’t know if they had it then. Did you not do your research before your statement JV, It’s as if you just make things up as it suits you?☹️
