Dogs and Touring

really? average number of dogs per van was 2 to 3? Every single van had an average of 2 to 3? Not doubting that is what you saw but was it near a dog show?
Also if I had a auto accessories shop I would expect to get customers who had cars?, if I had a sports shop I would expect to get customers who did sports? if I had a pet shop...

an improvement of you usual tactic, now your playing the team rather than answering the points?

No ,not every single van had dogs , but I tend to notice that where a van does have dogs then more often than not there is more than one dog for that unit ,maybe its because certain sites that I use and other dog owners use are better suited for them (dog walks ,etc)
Of course having a pet shop I would get pet owners , but my point is that more customers have multiple dogs than single dogs , so multiple dog ownership could be seen as the norm to a non dog owner

I thought you weren’t getting into a row?

wow done it again, you're on form today Dave

I didn't actually say anything about every single van HD, I wrote Every single van had an average of 2 to 3?
Now you wrote: must admit the last few sites we have been on the average number of dogs per van were 2 to 3

well he only paid me for a 5 minute row?

I've been out playing bowls this morning and just returned to this thread. I really can't understand why it has gone the way it has.
David - whatever your interpretation of the word "seems" you implied that 3 was "the norm" (your words). Now to me that implies that over 50% of dog owners (not vans) have 3 or more dogs, otherwise it wouldn't be "the norm" would it? Do you still stand by that comment and on what basis?
( For information, on my most recent visit to a club site at Cirencester Park a couple of weeks back the site was virtually full at the weekend - that's 200+ pitches.I was pitched on the grass near the dog walking so I think I had a pretty fair idea of the situation. I'd estimate the number of dogs at around 30 to 40 and certainly no more than 50. One couple had 4 terriers, all walked on short leads and I saw no-one else with 3 or more.)

At the risk of forming a Kent Mafia, I have to agree with Husky. We tour extensively and although I hadn’t given it much thought until reading this, my recent experience is of multiple dog ownership. We have travelled from a CL in Somerset where our neighbours had four dogs in a pen. We have just left Castleton pitch 12 neighbour three dogs, and arrived at the Firs, neighbour once again three dogs.
Going to Malvern on Sunday!

Nobody is disputing the fact that a small number of folk have multiple dogs, Ken. But the point is this - how many other neighbours at that CL had 3 or more dogs? How many others at Castleton had 3 or more dogs? How many at The Firs? The numbers are, in my experience incredibly small (certainly not to be described as "the norm") and, as long as the dogs are well behaved and the owners act responsibly, not an issue that should concern anyone at all.

Must have been an exciting time for you at Cirencester Park, counting the dogs entering and exiting the dog walk area, the number of dogs on site and which owners had how may dogs. ----Most of us just get on with enjoying ourselves and minding our own business without a care about how many dogs are on site. There is nothing in the CMC site rules limiting the number of dogs a customer can bring, so live and let live I say.

What a strange response, K!
No, I don't spend all my time on site curtain twitching, but in the morning and evening when dog owners are most likely to be using the dog field I got a pretty good impression of what the situation was.
Now I know you like point scoring and I don't really understand the need for the sarcasm in your response, but since one thing I believe we do agree on is that folk can bring as many dogs as they like (though most only have 1 or 2 ) perhaps your "wit" might be better directed at those who unnecessarily exaggerate the "problem" of dogs!

but HD said the average number of dogs per van was 2 to 3. Totally different to one, two or even three, four vans having 3 dogs as you said
If was working still I'd set this as a question, on a site with 100 vans, how many dogs would be needed to make an average of 3 dogs per van Extension question, do this for all averages.

Cornersteady, please calm down. You are getting too excited about something I hadn’t really noticed until reading this thread. I agreed with Husky that more owners appear to have more than one dog, and as a reference commented on my recent travels. Probably like you when touring, I have better things to occupy my time. But stand by my non audited observation.

Hello... just a quick pop in while we have WiFi. We are on an absolute peach of a CL in North Cornwall. Just us and our two dogs, and two horses in the next field, and two kittens who like to come and say hello, and the farm’s border collies who also like to do the welcoming bit! This place has huge mown grass or HS pitches, super clean loos and shower, a swimming pool and hot tub, and a dog walking field.
But best of all, the ratio of animals to whinging humans is perfect as far as we are concerned.......
