We stayed at Tewkesbury site earlier this year, and was very suprised at just how many grass pitches were still there after the refurbishment.

Why?  This site is quite at risk of regular flooding, why not just make it all hardstandings ?  And i dont mean the block paving type, which must be terribly expensive, and overly large, we were lost on our pitch with a 6 metre PVC.far too large.

The ground for the grass pitches is very soft too, so, not really suitable for motorhomes.....so why ?

Because it floods and needs to drain. Chippings would wash away and water permeable asphalt wouldn’t be popular. The multi surface concept is supposed to be the best of both.

Thats strange because most of the hardstandings are still gravel, ? I wouldnt mind asphalt, provided it wasnt too large. Think the block paving is over the top.

I dare say the club knows which bits flood so surface the pitches accordingly. Why not ask them that know? 👍🏻

Whenever we've been over Xmas and new year...or winter time the few grass pitches are always closed...maybe used in an emergency...but they are up the top and it gets pretty wet up there ..

I sincerely apologise for the delay in reply. I was waiting to hear back from a colleague.

We do only have a small number of standard grass pitches on this particular site, some of which are not suitable to take an awning. The allocation of these particular pitches have over the past 2 years been maintained by the wardens themselves so we can meet our clients expectations upon their arrival. In addition to this the use of grass pitches at our Broadway Club Site are also weather dependent so we prefer not to accept advance bookings for these specific pitches.

We have availability for our Hardstanding pitches however should you prefer a grass pitch please feel free to check the availability with our site staff when you arrive at site as they will always do their utmost to help.

I hope this helps answer your query and please let me know if you need further information.

Rowena - that is why I never book in to Broadway site - you can never book a grass pitch!

Even if they are available on a daily basis I will have already booked in elsewhere (C&CC).

That is the only way I can be sure of getting a grass pitch with EHU in that area!

Not true redface there's a CL that's has grass pitches and is 5 mins drive from Broadway....Green Pastures, Wormington, Broadway, Gloucestershire, WR12 7NL. There are also others nearer than the C&CC site.
