Just a bit of a warning to anyone planning to visit the CMH show at the NEC this week.

We visited for the day yesterday ( Wednesday) it took over 3 hours from leaving the show just to get on the motorway. Nightmare!

we would have used the train but that would have cost us £70+

Good Luck everyone

We were at the show on Tuesday and left at about 3.15pm and it was busy but moving. We had the same discussion about the train!!!

We always now use the train since having the same "problem" when going by car, have you thought about driving to a station just outside Birmingham and travelling in by train from there?there is a free shuttle bus from Birmingham International smile

Same day, same time, no traffic at all. We were heading South to M40. No traffic any other year that I can recall.

I visit the NEC for leisure and business events. I really want to know what value the dozens of people in Hi-Viz jackets waving their arms indicating the blindingly obvious actually achieves.

Access and egress from our beloved National Exhibition Centre is appalling, its like they are surprised that people keep turning up and don't really know what to do.

Still, I suppose its like politicians, the action taken is a crap decision that achieves nothing and is made without any plan but they have to be seen to be doing something.

On Thursday, an hour to do a mile on the A446 North due to one set of traffic lights failing to cope with volume of traffic and backing up everything to the NEC. Once clear, a good run until we found the A5 closed at Cannock - Police related incident. A two hour journey home was just over four hours instead of just under three.

Delays coming out of the NEC are inevitable but the overall time to get home will discourage us from attending in future unless we want something specific.
