Anyone going to the show at Birmingham this time, maybe to make a big purchase or just to look around. We went to the last show and brought a new caravan, so that's us done and dusted, for quite a long time.

I bought a new caravan in 2007 - an Eriba which will last 20 years - why would I go to a show and look for a new one so soon?

We went last year. Having just switched to a MH, there were a few accessories that we wanted. I'm resisting the temptation this year.

The last time we went to the show there was a stand there advertising a "new " revitalised Caravan Club,, does anyone have information as to when the date of implementation is to be announced, as thankfully it still seems to cater for most forms of LV as in the past

We went last year and bough a new caravan. We went to look around as we had decided to go back to caravanning after having a motorhome for 4 years. We got a very good trade in value for our motorhome at the show so bought a new caravan so we aren't going this year plus it is a bit of a drive for us to get there.

We have just got back about an hour ago. After buying refreshments we had no money left Seriously we were there to look at a couple of motorhomes. Mainly the Bailey 66-2 Advance and the new 66-2 Alliance the latter being the same as the first but with more more accessories and an upgraded engine to 160HP. Having been happy with a 130HP engine I am not sure how much happier I would be with 30HP more in a smaller van? You are paying £4500 more and apart from the engine upgrade and the rather smart Gunmetal Grey metallic paintwork on the cab I suspect the other extras could be added for about £1500? Talk about the sublime to the ridiculous we got talking to a salesman about the new Elddis PVC which looked really nice and we think, just think, we could live with the size. Plenty to think about!

We agreed we probably wouldn't go this year. We are still paying off the credit card for the poor lunch we bought there last year.
Will be there on Sunday! (With sandwiches!).
Agreed we wont trade the van. Once you get amongst the shiny exhibits though its hard to say no.
Main targets for our attention:
Hymer, their promo bags make superb shopping bags.
Alde, they always have goody bags.
Whale are usually good for a few freebies.
Having lively debate with the ALKO engineer as to why their jack is ridiculous and their spare wheel carrier is appalling.
Dog biscuits, don't know why but we always by a sack.
Selection of cured sausage, why?
Hoping the show sales have been slow and we can haggle a serious discount on a new van. If not will wait for the January sales lull offers.

Sadly, I failed to get there this time, despite plans etc including filling in the Club Reduced Fee for Club Day voucher from the Club Mag and placing it on the 'vans passenger seat. Still I'll read what, if anything, you lot have bought and re-plan everything for February !!

We went to the show for the first time. Amazed at the scale of the show and how helpful some of the representatives were. Equally amazed at how unhelpful some of the NEC staff were. When asked 'how do we get get to the exit', a helpful employee retorted, 'through the door you came in'. Others were either too tied up in personal conversations or just too disinterested to help.
Overall a good show experience by being able to compare lots of layouts and manufacturers. I guess the NEC staff must become a little jaded doing the same thing day in and day out.
Won't go to another show until we actually need to.

I suppose if you have a long way to travel to get to the show there has to be a reason to go. Living virtually on the doorstep I often go just to browse and chat to various exhibitors. At least now it is run by the industry it is reasonably priced so you don't mind paying just to browse. Sooner or later I will have to change outfits so keeping up with what is available should come in handy.
