I seem to recall a problem around that time.If you have service history you should get a new panel under warranty.good luck

yes you will have to wait and waiting time will be added until your dealership can get the van in but at least something will be done!Why are people so impatient these days????I have waited since May for a mod.kit for my van,it arrived yesterday and was not the correct items!!!I spoke to the dealers staff member who is going to sort it out,she is obviously stressed and i did my best to assure her that it is not the end of the world!The Lunar panel will probably come from someone like euromax and as a very large supplier of caravan panels they will have quite a workload.If you are employed you will probably do your best for the company and the customer but there are limits as to what you can do without ending up in a mental institution or jumping off a bridge!!!end of rant!!!!!!!

if it was a new car it would be in within a week and back on road in two. people have a right to be impatient when they spend thousands on a van thats basically substandard straight from the production line. been in engineering over 50 years and nothing ever left the factory without an inspectors signiture. Its a shame the caravan industry isn't the same.

I have a Lunar Ultima, The bed slats kept dropping through because the seat supports had warped. With the rubbish service from Lunar and a less the rubbish dealership (Robinsons, Chesterfield) I gave up after 12 months of chasing and fixed the problem myself. Not what you expect for 20K.

Sorry to hear that.If it were me I would try trading standards threat with your dealer (insurance company state faulty workmanship).They may possibly go someway toward the cost of repair.Good luck.

It might be worthwhile speaking quietly to another Lunar dealer.Until last year I was working for a Lunar dealer and I am fairly certain that there was an issue with roof sheets splitting about 3 years ago.

Disagree, the prices of 'Leisure vehicles' are on a par if not way above the price of cars these days. They need to get their 'Customer Service' comes first,Second and Third. Hats on, IF they want to survive in this competitive world we live in now. Three Months for a part is too long.
No one would put up with it in almost ANY other industry supplying luxury items to the public.

I have a 2014 Swift Elegance 580. When it was serviced in May I was informed that there was cracking on the rear panel, but didn't pay much attention as they said nothing about it needing replacement (the cracking is at the top where you can't see it unless you get the stepladder out). Then last week I had a phone call saying that Swift had agreed to replace it and they would contact me when the new back had arrived - in a week or so they thought. I said I had not known that it was bad enough to need replacing and they said they had taken photos to send to Swift and in the meantime had taped the area so that it wouldn't leak. So, well done the dealers - White Arches of Rushden. All sorted without me getting involved, and I never knew! Ignorance is sometimes bliss.

Another David, over the last few years I have read many of your posts & respected your comments. I am interested to know why you have chosen a Hobby over other makes, explanation of Lunar excepted.
Our Lunar was recently written off (potholes ) so we are looking for another 'van. It's going to be our last one, as we are in our late 70s & I have a few mobility & medical problems. Hence my question above.
Btw re Insurance. I know from your previous comments that you have always said "You only find out how good your insurance is when you need to claim". We have found that out recently. From the assessor writing off our caravan & sending in his report, it has taken our insurers (not CCMH) over a month to pay us out. despite a couple of 'phone calls. Appreciate your comments.

Hi,
I have a 2016 Lunar Clubman and have also just discovered a crack - but on the top of the rear panel. I'm told by my Service Engineer, that its a Stress Crack and that such cracks are not uncommon.
Lunar have rejected my warranty claim as "the rear panel is only warranted for 12 months".
My Insurers are refusing to pay as "they do not cover stress cracks".
I'm now faced with a bill of some £3,400 and a wait for at least 8 weeks while Lunar deliver a new panel.
We love our Lunar Clubman - but not the service that we get from Lunar.
I have contacted the Club for advise.
Anyone out there had similar issues ?

do you have legal advice on your caravan or home insurance, if so then use them as caravan is not fit for purpose. so what does the 3 year warranty cover? did you pay any money with credit card when buying, if so call them and get advice. use every option you can find. good luck.

Not similar issues perhaps but I did have a problem with a seat squab in the rear diner of a Swift about 10 years ago. The dealer said as it is two years old Swift will not cover. I simply said I am not concerned about Swift warranty. It is my problem and your responsibility. If you don't sort it I have £50,000 legal cover and a good case. The dealer replaced the squab.

David, I hope your new Hobby caravan brings you the peace of mind that you clearly deserve after all the problems you've experienced. We looked at the Hobby caravans at the NEC show this year and were very impressed. If we hadn't found our new Knaus Starclass 480 at such a good price then we would have undoubtedly bought a Hobby as they also seem to be very good quality caravans. Like yourself, we just want to be able to enjoy caravanning without unwanted hassle.

I am on my first and very last Lunar. The worst caravan I've had in over 32 years. It is a 2014 clubman and has been back for repair that many times it now knows it's own way to the dealers. After sales from the dealer and Lunar have been abysmal.

We brought an Ultima 560 new from Robinsons but part exchanged it at 3 years old.
I loved the caravan and its layout but we just had too many "issues" with it. It took three visits to get the alarm working, it took 18 months to get a replacement wardrobe door and the three front windows needed replacing on an annual basis because they warped!
Robinsons did not seem at all interested once they had our money and the delivery of parts from Lunar was slow. We were told that if it were any other manufacturer it would be far quicker.
Apparently we were incredibly lucky that the problems with the warped windows did not cause damp issues!
It's all very well saying "patience" but like many others we use our caravan regularly over the year and it should be "fit for purpose". You would not expect such service from others so why in the leisure industry? "Oh Yes Sir, we took the money from your bank account in error, yes we know its taken you overdrawn and you're being charged but it will take us three months to sort it and you'll just have to manage" Yeah right - you'd soon be on to the Ombudsman!

Would never buy a caravan/motor home with a joint/ seam in the roof utterly stupid design, it is cheaper though☹️
