We were sitting on the veranda, it was a lovely evening, the sun was just about to drop into the distant sea, and the light was a glorious red. 'Do you realy want to leave all this' I heard myself saying. We had been farming and in a small way for 20 years, I also had a job as at a local builders merchants, and my wife was employed by the local health authority as a health visitor. I recently had endured treatment for cancer in my neck, and like most I had terrible visions of what could happen, so I had sold all the animals, and all the farming equipment, and we had prepared to sell Glanrhos.

'I dont want to sell' Jackie said, 'I thought you wanted to sell' she replied. to which I replied 'Then lets stay, and diversify'. I had always wanted to own a caravan site, and now I had the chance to live a dream !! So we did it.

That winter, we hired a digger and set to work on carving from the land, a dream campsite,  Total spend was £23000, To lay water and electricity to every pitch, having a new transformer fitted on the pole, digging out the pitches to make them all hardstanding, putting in a small road, and installing drainage, and an elsan point tank, all this took time and effort. Then we opened on the first of August, and waited, but no one came !!

But that was a while ago, and now we are busy, we will never make our money back, but we did it because we love caravaning, and realy enjoy our new found profession.
