Review how much to believe

They do on UKC. There isn’t much more we can say really. 🙄

thanks.
well as I said before it is always best to triangulate reviews, or any evidence, so looking at a number of different review site for a given hotel or campsite is a good idea?

We use a lot of CLs and I can't, offhand, remember one which I wouldn't recommend. I always try to leave a review, partly to support the owners but I try to be mainly factual - access, facilities, walks, pubs in the area and so on. One person's perception can be very different from another's so I tend to ignore complaints about noise, friendliness of greeting etc etc, particular where such complaints are in the minority.
I guess the same happens on all forums - I was looking at the hotel we staxed in near Sorrento recently - a really nice place with wonderful views. All the reviews were good apart from one which stood out as the title was "if I could give less than 1 star I would". I'm not quite sure what had irked the reviewer in particular but it was easy to ignore it in the middle of all the other glowing reviews.

I do leave reviews and try to stick to the following.
1.What was the road approach and turn in like.
2.What were the internal roads like for size and condition.
3. What were the pitch options.
4. Did the facilities serve their purpose.
5. Other facilites I may have used.
6. Good tips for eating and days out.
Also, much as your stunning picture of a local rare plant may be very pretty it is useless in a review. I need pictures of the site, the pitches and the hookup and water taps etc. boring but useful.
I think it is easy to spot fake reviews, i.e. a new establishment opens and they have gushing reviews from all the customers, the customers who happen to have enrolled on the site just as the establishment opened and they all have one review.
I have found that sites that I like and have had a similar review from other posters offer a good place to start looking for new places to visit. See where else they have reviewed and this usually gives a guide to sites I will probably like.

I rarely read reviews. I don't use CLs generally and club sites and affiliated sites I have generally been happy with. Site location is more important than whether the facilities are dated as I am happy that they will be clean and serviceable. I am more likely to read reviews for commercial sites.
