Could anyone advise - is there a site near channel port where you can stay overnight without having to unhitch car and caravan?

Dover or Folkestone to go to Calais or Dunkirk. Either by boat or tunnel.

With the risk of assuming wrongly that you mean Portsmouth, Dibles Park is 20 minutes from Portsmouth ferry port. Its in Warsash and is a nice place with a hard standing area near the entrance with a few long pitches. Easy to reverse into the pitches. Nice clean warm showers in winter. We Have stayed there several times and could have stayed hooked up if we had wanted to.

Beverley, Years ago we regularly arrived back at Dover on midnight ferries and pulled into Hawthorn Farm Campsite at Martin Mill - just up the hill from the port - and parked without unhitching or reversing in a big meadow at the far end of the site. But you had better phone them and see if that is still how it is.

beverley, there are at least 4 CLs close to Dover which may suit you, depending on what facilities you require. You just have to select the one you like the look of and then contact the site owner.:-
