Water ingress above the cab doors
I have a Fiat Ducato van conversion, when I put the silver screen on and it rains I get water ingress over the top of the doors. The problem is, the silver screen goes between the door and the rubber seal which allows the water to pass. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to overcome it. Any ideas would be welcome.

I can't really help as we don't have those screens but I do know it's imperative that you have the right version for your van and that they are a snug fit...
other members may have more info but I would be speaking to the manufacturer (silver screens ot Taylormade) and updating them.
im sure they would be interested and would do what's required to assist in resolving your issue.

We have silver screens and have not had an issue. It is a very thin bit of nylon that just goes over the corner of our door like a small triangle so would fail to see how that would allow water in. Ours has Remis blinds and is 2016 van so did you get the correct version for your year and do you have remis blinds?
I take it you have Silver Screens ad are fitting like this video?

We have a Taylormade, LM. It was ordered for our Merc Sprinter and we still use it on our 2017 Pug Boxer which it fits near enough. We also had one on our 2007 X250 Ducato. We've not experienced your problem on any of these 3 vehicles.
Can I ask the age of your Ducato as the older JTD models had all sorts of problems with draughts around doors and I’m wondering if this might be a pointer towards the cause.
However, our Taylormade does not fit over the top of the door so cannot interfere with the rubber seal. Instead, it has a thinner triangular pocket which slides over the rear top corner of the door while the thicker padded section sits outside with the top edge parallel with the window top and does not intrude into the space occupied by the rubber seal.
PS. Internal Remis blinds have no bearing on the fitting of an external screen, MT. A silver screen type of blind will fit a vehicle with or without the Remis setup.

No they do not TW As the pocket you describe has to be deeper on a Remis blind than without..

I see you’re talking about Silverscreens, MT. Taylormade have not asked us on the two occasions we've ordered whether Remis blinds were fitted and they make their blinds to fit the base vehicle irrespective of the conversion.
However, they make their triangular pockets adjustable by means of Velcro so it matters not whether Remis blinds are fitted.
It would seem we are both right.

My van is a 2015 Fiat Proffesional Ducato and the screen was purchased from Taylormade for this vehicle and the Remis blinds do not pose a problem to the fitting of the screen. I have tried stretching the fabric above the door to take out any creases that may break the seal but to no avail. This problem doesn't exist with overcab motorhomes as the water doesn't run down on to the door tops. Looks like I will have to go back to Taylormade to resolve the problem.

LR, your blind shouldn’t be over the top of the door. Any creases or wrinkles can be taken out by adjusting the various bits of Velcro.

We have Taylor made and never had this problem , are you pulling the thicker part over the door thus leaving a small gap, instead of the thinner material?

We had the same problem as you but we were using a Milenco thermal insulation screen with its big plastic flaps that needed to be fitted between the top and the sides of door and the rubber door seal.
We found that if the flaps were not correctly inserted straight then water ingress would occur in heavy rain.
We still use the screen but I no longer use the top flaps.

I had this problem when I changed my 2010 van for a 2016 model. The Remis blinds are different and appear to be wider at the top of the door. Adjusting the Velcro on the triangular section didn't fix it so I made the cut out section in the corner larger by cutting away some of the material. This allows the screen to sit over the door without holding the rubber seal off the door, which is the issue. My screens are Taylormade bought in 2010.

Thanks for the the replies. As I said in an earlier post that I was going to undo the flap that goes over the door and use a button magnet to hold it to the van side, I have done that today and with all the rain that we have had the interior of the van is dry - sorted.
