If you want to get up close to a "working"Lancaster go to the Linconshire Aviation Heritage Centre at East Kirkby ,they are open all year and you can have a taxi ride in their Lancaster a really good experiences, do not stand behind it if you are easily knocked over by prop wash when all four Merlins are at full chat

It's £150 for a connection, and £30 a month. We bought shares, and also dug and laid the ducts where line crossed our fields for which we get so much a metre - which goes towards our costs.
The majority of the physical work is done by volunteers, and the landowners give the wayleaves for free.

Some friend's who live down a little lane over looking one of the Broads ,there are six properties, and to get fibre to them from the nearest junction(about 900yds) would be £6000 each
so you have a real bargain by doing it yourselves

Just been catching up, lovely to read about everyone's adventures
Congratulations Goldie on the show success
and the broadband!
My week has been pretty quiet, not been up to much, but weather has been good which is a bonus! No caravan trips until the end of the month

Back home after two and a half weeks around Devon & Cornwall. Just lots of paperwork and admin to catch up with now plus giving the MH a good clean.

Did you use CLs CY? We are looking to use a few new ones to us if we can in October. We'll look at any recommendations you have, not bothered about those with loos or showers in the main.

Really loving this area of France (Rhone - Alps) the views from our pitch are fantastic, lake right in front with the mountains behind the lake and in every direction we look stunning. Weather is great around 26- 28c with a nice breeze.
This morning we took a drive out to see some of the fantastic waterfalls that are in this area but unfortunately due to the very hot summer here we didn't even get a dribble of the wet stuff
so we took a drive up to the Coll Grand Collumbier, wow! the views from the top was something else, as it was a clear day you could see Mont Blanc across the other side of the mountains, still with snow on the high peak just sticking its head out of a ring of cloud. Sat for awhile and had a crepe and drink just taking in the views, oh and watching the silly people riding up the mountain on bikes
think we might stay here a few more days.
As its the weekend a few of the cabins on site now have folk in them, although a number of vans left the site yesterday morning no more came on today so far. The cabin behind us has a big family group in it at the moment all sat out on the porch having a meal, its been going on for over 2 hours and looks like it will last for a good bit longer yet as another 2 has just arrived. They really do like their big get together's but they rarely get out of hand. The weather and the views helps I guess.

Flew into Naples late last night for a week's break just outside Sorrento. Although we didn't get to the hotel until almost midnight, they had a meal waiting for us! All we really wanted to do was crash out but it would have been rude to refuse so .......
The hotel is set high up in the hills above Sorrento and we have this view of a rather hazy Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples.
Very hot today, 30°+, and still very comfortable to sit out in the evening.
Off to Herculanium tomorrow for a spot of culture.

Still lots of work to do at the "new" house, much more than originally thought. Work in the bedrooms and the main en suite continues slowly as really only me to do things, DD helps when Callum allows her to!
She has also made a start on some painting in one of the rooms that is otherwise OK.
Heating now leak free and back in action, but a leak in a part of the roof has appeared, so we are awaiting roofers to make some alterations which will hopefully sort the problem, just a pity it means even more expense.
Some hope on the selling of the old house, they have had viewers who are investigating mortgage possibilities and are hoping to make an offer, hopefully it will be a reasonable offer.

Daughter is further down the coast from there and is doing a quick tour of the Toe and Hell before 2 days back near Naples to visit Vesuvius & Pompeii.

TDA, we used two CAMC 'no facs' sites, Ilfracombe and Marazion, a commercial at Bude- Lynstone CP, and a few 'wild camping' spots. No CL's this trip.

Yesterday as the weather was fab, we visited Waddesdon Manor, it's dog friendly apart from the manor, and the aviary, we took it in turns to look at the birds. The parkland is beautifully kept and there are some lovely walks. The Manor is very impressive from the outside, will have to visit without the dog for a peak inside.
BMW in partnership with the NT were showcasing their electric cars, Brue I was impressed with the i3
Today looks like it's a pottering and odd job day, plenty to get on with.

Just looking in, we said farewell to my Mum at the end of last week, a nice uplifting service for her long and busy life. We still have a lot to do but we will have a bit more time to concentrate now.
Helen, the BMW i3 is good but as our son pointed out getting into the back as a passenger requires the ingenuity of Tim Peake in his space capsule. It's good as a two person car and we both love it. It's so cheap to run we can't believe the low costs but the test will come when we have to drive to the NE to visit son and family when they finally move (hope that will be half term, still falling over all their stuff.)
Have also booked a break in Cornwall, a bungalow by the sea for a week on the Roseland. Can't quite believe we'll be going yet but at least I managed to find somewhere.
Must have a read through all your posts now and catch up!

Thanks CY, we know Marazion well. Did you spot the CL 100 metres from site near school? A hidden little gem, our bolt hole of choice down there, one to look at next time you are down. We are hoping to go down there in October, although not quite so far South possibly this time.

We spent this morning at Herculanium which was devastated by the same eruption that did for its more famous neighbour Pompeii. It is smaller and arguably better preserved than Pompeii. There are some remarkable examples of old house, mosaics, thermal baths, even a boat used in a forlorn attempt to escape and, most poignant of all, replicas of some 300 skeletons of those killed in the eruption. A fascinating few hours.
It was a good job we got there early - when we left there must have been 20 or more coaches parked up!

Nice photos and commentary, M.
Took the awning down today as we want to get out on a longish walk tomorrow. Had a stroll down to Axbridge and The Lamb. All the TT had gone
. Had to make do with some local cider.
Saw a rare (for us anyway) bird on Cheddar Reservoir as we were passing. A Grey Phalarope.
Moving Tuesday. Hope Helene behaves herself.
