The coffee & cake would be the same price at the 8 seater as it would be the 2 seater ....

Fails on a possible few points there MM. If there was a sign saying sit (pitch yourself) where you want then yes it is reasonable, you don't specify if the cafe full or empty? That would affect things? But finally does the food and drink cost more depending where you sit in your cafe? Oh yes you answered that, point made!

Correct me if I'm wrong but as I remember from a couple of years ago when I was a customer :-

1 - Awning pitches and non-awning pitches are the same price for CMC customers.

2 - Arriving customers are allowed to choose which pitch suits them best and then inform the site staff.

3 - Every customer has the same rights.

So why all the adverse comments when a customer in a small campervan or Motorhome chooses a pitch which best suits their purpose.

Is it because although the CMC management has accepted that motorhomes and Campervans are now allowed to be part of the CMC, there are still CMC Customers who resent their presence. -------- To them I say " Get used to them, they are here to stay".  If you cannot accept that, ---------- go elsewhere.

    smile

Ha ha K, another of your gems!  So campervans weren’t allowed on club sites until the name change🤔 As someone who used to be a member you just know your statement was not quite truesurprised

2 - Arriving customers are allowed to choose which pitch suits them best and then inform the site staff.

They are allowed to choose pitches of the type that they have booked - not just any pitch.

There’s nothing like trying to stir up a bit of us and them divisiveness. Good try, K. 😜

If all that was left was an 8 seater I might well go elsewhere as generally I choose whether to invite anybody to share 'my' table and to do so when sitting on a table for 8 might seem unreasonable.

On the last holiday we were sat outside on a table for 4 to have a meal in the grounds of The Bisops Palace at Wells. We had one of a handfull of tables with shade on a very hot and sunny day. An older couple were trying to find a table with shade as the gentleman was obviously struggling in the heat. I invited them to join us. In normal situations I rarely would do so

Actually, I used those words as verbs, not adjectives.

Not really a strange choice of words David as that is what the OP is doing - scorning and criticising camper vans that use awning pitches. It sounds as if he were in a position to do so the OP would refuse them an awning pitch)

We are moving on today to Gowerton. High winds forecast early hours of Tuesday morning (courtesy of storm Helene) so tommorow night will probably be in a hotel laughing

I do think that the OP is being ridiculous if he thinks that those not needing an awning are going to limit themselves to a choice of (say) 5 pitches rather than 50

Indeed Justus. Also as there are normally relatively few non-awning pitches it can severely restrict pitch choices

Thing is, on sites with a significant number of smaller pitches I guess these will need to be managed during arrivals to ensure all comers will fit somewhere on site. More management than discretion I reckon!

It would be interesting to see if sites with a significant number of small pitches would be earmarked for upgrading?  After saying that, I really have no idea of the spread of non-awning pitches, and also have no idea how popular they are.  I suspect they are not 'sought after' pitches, but I could be way out on that.

We recently visited Bingham Grange.  Our pitch was in the upper level, and was just wide enough to pitch our 2 berth caravan and porch awning, with a hedge on one side, and an area of grass and a hedge on the other.  The pitch was quite long, though, and there was plenty of room both on the pitch in front of the caravan, and on the grass adjacent to the awning, to sit out.  There was also enough room to park our car at the front of the pitch, but the warden had told us on arrival that, if necessary, we could park our car on one of the adjacent no awning pitches.  These, incidentally, remained empty of caravans/motorhomes for the entire week we were there.  We also didn’t mind having our pitch allocated.

Never been to Bunree, Alan.  Perhaps one day.  I have in the back of my mind - I might have read somewhere that no awnings were allowed at all at Bunree?  I could be wrong though - haven't checked.

Bunree is a beautiful place and the pitches on the waterside are close to sea level, especially those at the Northern end. When the wind picks up, the waterside pitches get a real battering. We were there in April 2016 and experienced horrific wind speed on one of those pitches.

I was told that awnings are never erected on the waterside pitches but frankly I wouldn't dream of putting one up even if it was allowed (which it isn't).
