Small motor homes on awning pitches

The CC, with the exception of serviced pitches, chooses to have no price differential between grass, hardstanding, awning & non awning pitches, good view/poor view etc. A price differential would steer people towards choosing a pitch that perhaps more accurately reflected how they were going to use the pitch.
In the meantime I would automatically choose an awning pitch, why opt for less room for the same price?
Apart from the fact that asking for "consideration" is lost in modern society, having "considered" it, I still want the biggest pitch/spacing for my money.

But it's not for nowt is it? I've paid my membership and I've paid for my pitch. I'll choose the pitch that suits me best from those available when I arrive, that's how the CC system works.....
Do I give a toss if that inconveniences you...?
Not at all.

How rude! Well surely if you're holidaying with children a certain amount of planning is needed and you'd book an awning pitch anyway, it'd be foolish not to wouldn't it? Similarly, anyone needing apitch for disability reasons has only to contact the site wardens to have a suitable pitch allocated. Maybe take heed of your own last sentence!

As this thread seems particularly aimed at small motor-homes, I would also add that we have sometimes seen caravans arrive, put up an awning, place a table and a couple of chairs in it, but never actually spend time in it at all. At the end of a few days, it all gets packed away and they leave. Is that is also inconsiderate to those who need an awning pitch ? Not really, its just what they chose to do.

Usually, when we get an OP of this nature it turns out to be a result of someone not being quick enough off the mark in booking what they need. They then blame the system, or other members, instead of accepting it was a situation of their own making with the remedy in their own hands.
I’m not saying that was the case here, of course, just that it’s the usual cause for a moan.

Which pitch I choose hasn't really got anything to do with anyone else. I will book the choice I want if it's available, compromise if it isn't, but try not to moan if I don't get my first choice. You don't really go to most Club Sites to get lots of space, that's the perk of CL usage.

This consideration does seem to happen on most sites. As we tend to book a few days before travelling often only awning pitches are available.

We booked well in advance, an awning pitch, so are quite satisfied with ours thank you. I know of at least 2 others on site who have had to take non awning pitches as members with no awning, or extra car, are taking up white peg pitches.
P.S. I've not got the handbook with me but will post a link when I have.

No need to be defensive, TD, as I said I wasn’t suggesting that was the case with you.
It’s a shame the others you refer to didn’t have your foresight.
Link to what, and why? There’s nothing to get het up about as we’re all within the rules.

Good Afternoon
I've been a club site warden for the last nine years and over that time have swallowed every word of the rules and bye laws. Browsing over page 273 of the latest handbook there is nothing at all regarding booking a pitch with consideration for anyone so not entirely sure where that information is. While the booking system is as it is, any member can book whatever pitch type they like for their stay on site so whether you think it's inconsiderate is I'm afraid just your opinion.
If in the future there is a price differential in pitch types I think you would still see outfits on awning pitches without actually having an awning.

No doubt .... but a price difference could/would probably help deter a VW camper from sitting in the middle of a huge awning pitch.

A price differential may help someone seeing a VW camper on a "large" pitch at least make them think "oh well they've paid for that extra space" , as indeed I would happily do.....
But we're not engaged in social engineering here, they don't need deterring .
There's a single lady lives opposite me in a 4 bedroom house, another single neighbour drives a very large Mercedes saloon, each could probably manage with a smaller house/car but why should they, they've worked hard, they've paid for it, what business of anybody elses is it...?

I think the quote you're looking for is on page 22 of the handbook and is as follows:
"Standard pitch without awning - As you'd expect, these pitches are the same as above (Standard pitch with awning) but without the space for an awning. On some sites awning pitches are in demand so if you don't plan to use an awning please try to book this pitch instead."
If somebody has booked an awning pitch then they'll get one, regardless of how they choose to use it. Those who've 'had to take non-awning pitches' obviously hadn't booked a standard pitch with awning.

The point being made by the OP is complete and utter tosh.....
Do you share his views...??
Why else suggest that someone should not choose whatever pitch they fancy and if in future differential pricing is introduced members should still be able to choose whatever pitch they fancy without having to justify it to you or the OP.....
1 -
utter tosh? Jill points to the holy book of club rules which suggests what the OP is referring to. I too have driven around sites looking for a vacant white peg with the intention of using the pitch as intended only to find the odd suitable pitch because of lone motorhomes on white pegs .... but if you read all of what I posted, rather than selected parts, I too said I can understand why a little VW would do so

There was a fairly long time during which motor caravans were not allowed onto Club sites at all !

can't really the see the connection or suggestion between Jill's post and the OP at all? The OP talks about the club allow(ing) inconsiderate members, while Jill's post sates:
If somebody has booked an awning pitch then they'll get one, regardless of how they choose to use it. Those who've 'had to take non-awning pitches' obviously hadn't booked a standard pitch with awning.
And the club just states please try to book a non awning pitch, what about if the non awning pitches are all taken? How do you know they weren't?

I'm one of those members that always books an awning pitch 👍 , why ! ! ! because i have been given the choice 👍 .
And I don't always put our fiamma awning out .......but there again that's my choice .....if you want an awning pitch ......book it before they all go .
There was a post a few weeks back where a previous member had returned to this club after several years away .........he actually said nothing seems to have changed .......the whingers are still here .😁

I think you have hit the nail on the head there! Permitted since 1962. Accepted since . . . ?

And some of us MH-ers couldn’t care less whether we're welcomed by other members or not as we just get on with enjoying our stay whether that be on a awning or non-awning pitch and irrespective of who is occupying what type of pitch around us.
