Your're right Nellie - eight cows are getting the full beauty treatment ready for the show on Thursday.
If you're up this way it's a good day out - still farming based at heart but with plenty for everyone. This years's President will be there - Countess of Wessex, plus I believe Mr Gove.

I won't be there (chronic knee problem means I would be more of a hindrance than help), but there will be a full complement of eight helpers, including a "Twitter Friend" from Vermont, a contract shepherd and our family. Four of them will be sleeping with the cows the night before.
I'm in charge of paperwork and more importantly - food. I've started the baking so must go and get on with some more. Farmers are hungry people, and friends who come by the cattle tent are welcome to share the food.

countdown for us, packing to do, chores to complete. In between I am knitting a Twiddlemuff for Mum, keep her hands warm and busy in the car. Found lots of lovely tiny little treasures to use to decorate the finished Muff. Good fun, hope it helps.

It has been a grey and mizzly day here today so we picked the right day to go to The Cromer End of Pier Show. It was wonderful, such a great afternoon. It is always good fun and very professional. A packed house. Unfortunately it wasn't a good day to have a walk along the sea front but we walked some of it and then went to admire the Lifeboat before the show. The cliffside goats weren't about today. I think they must have been sheltering from the weather. Hunstanton was very quiet yesterday and looked as though it had shut down but Cromer was vey busy and very much still open as was Sheringham when we drove through.
I am glad your new caravan seems to be a success Tammygirl. Enjoy the good weather.

Glad you arrived safely at Sandringham Millie, and pleased you enjoyed the show. Funny how some seaside towns shut down in September while others stay busy.

Not been up to much, trip to the supermarket and work. OH has been out in the garage working on "Daffy" after the visit to the classic car day, he has hopes of entering next year.

We had rain all night last night and it was still raining when I got up and took Flyte for his first walk. Took car into Preston for it's service, and although I'd booked a courtesy car there wasn't one available so had to wait for the job to be done. All was well both with the car and the time it took so were able to get out for a run down to Lytham and had a couple of walks along the prom as it had stopped raining by about 9:00. Called in at Preston Caravans on the way back to our van, just for a look at the new models but weren't impressed. We still think that our present Madrid is the most suitable one for us. Raining again and I've to go out again!!

Rained during the night but clear and bright this morning. Had a walk yesterday, about 7 miles along the beach to Corton and back. See they are clearing a large area of Bamboo that had taken hold after someone had dumped some plants several years ago, you can see how these invaders take over. Today the plan is to take a shorter walk (about 5 miles) around part of Breydon Water just to see whats about.
Glad the service went OK Nell, just hope the rain ceases for you.

Sat in the shade here in Tournus, boy is it hot 31c. Was planning on going to Provence next but heading to the mountains instead. Just too hot for this time of year, the sites are still planning on closing from this weekend onwards yet they are almost full and the weather is set fair for another few weeks yet. Pools already closed in some places.
Went out for a bike ride late afternoon yesterday along the river, was nice in the shade of the trees. This morning we went to Sennecy-le-Grand, passed through it many times so had a look today. Lovely little place with a museum dedicated to the SAS.

Spent a few pleasant hours wandering around Westonbirt Arboretum today. Good value at the moment, we get in as students as we have a discovery pass for our forest at home. Unfortunately that stops in October, when the colours really get going. They have installed a 300 metre aerial walkway through the trees since our last visit, which was interesting. However, it is the shear size of some of the specimens that I find impressive. Although most trees have yet to start to change colour, several of the Acers were putting on a show.

Moved on from Great Yarmouth, now at Seacroft 1940s w/end at Sherringham, going to see the Sherringham Shanty men's practice tomorrow, have booked for their show at Cromer theatre and also for end of pier show next Tuesday got £10 discount as pier card for free coffees full
Seacroft site also full ,and Great Yarmouth only had 5 empty pitches today,

We had a much better day too today, although there was a chill wind at time. We had another walk along the canal this morning before heading out to meet up with our daughter for a visit to Hoghton Tower. Had a very interesting 2 hr guided tour followed by a wander through the gardens, athough there were not many flowers out now. Then went off to find a pub for a late lunch but all 3 that we tried had finished serving so we ended up just having a beer ( Young's Special for me) & coffee for the ladies and a good old chat before daughter had to head home to pack as she and hubby are off to Naples & the Almalfi Coast tomorrow for a well earned break. We're all packed up and ready to move on to Chester tomorrow.

Although there was a lot of rain overnight (which surprisingly we didnt hear) it has been dry all day with a very pleasant afternoon. We visited Houghton Hall built by Robert Walpole our first prime minister at great cost. No one knows where the money came from as he destroyed all the records. It is a very impressive house designed by William Kent. There are some 'interesting' statues by Damien Hirst this year....mmmm! The walled garden is absolutely wonderful.

Must make the most of today as tomorrow is a 'Simon & Garfunkel' day - homeward bound although we are going to do an overnight to have an easy drive home.
Saw a sad incident at Penzance harbour yesterday. A small yacht, a Westerly GK 24, had dried out alongside the harbour wall but had settled in a very nose down position. When we passed the harbour later as the tide had risen, only the mast was above water. That's going to write off a lot of kit.

Great walk yesterday, pedometer showed just 6.25 miles. Lots of waders starting to come in at Breydon. Sat on the sea wall for a picnic in warm sunshine. Off to the most Easterly point in Briton today whilst Mrs One goes to her ladies that lunch. Need to pack this evening as off to visit son in Hampshire on Friday, not taking the van this time.

Our first visit to Sandringham site after 25 years (we think it was about 1994??). I knew it had been redeveloped and made larger. Fortunately we are now on a nice flat area at the bottom of the hill, as I remember having nightmares previously, as we were ‘perched’ on about a foot or so of blocks to get level. I assume this is the new part? Seems a nice site and not too many issues re. pigeons! We visited Sandringham House and gardens yesterday, very enjoyable and a good lunch too. Off to Holkham today as weather looks good.

Moved on to the mountains this morning, wonderful site with great views of lakes and mountains. Weather cooler here by a few degrees and a breeze, site also has a pool
Not sure what we are going to do yet but appears to be a nice area.

Absolutely glorious Weather today. We went to The Hall at Old Hunstanton this morning owned by the Le Strange family since Norman times. It is private property now converted into flats but because of an old charter since times past the grounds have to be open to the general public on Thursdays. We had a short walk and then had coffee and cake in the church which opens for the walkers on Thursday mornings and had a chat about the local history to the lady serving the coffees. We then went on to RSPB Titchwell. We had a snack lunch and a walk to the beach and then along the beach and back which was lovely in such wonderful weather.

The gods weren't with us today. It took us 4.5 hrs to do 64 mls, from Bryars Fm, CL just north of Preston to Belle Vue Fm CL near Chester!!
There had been a series of accidents around the Manchester area today and we got caught up in one on the M6 at The Croft Interchange. Fortunately the weather was fine and the sun came out. It did mean though that we missed our lunch for the second day on the trot....which is one way to slim I suppose.0 -
Our Show Team had a brilliant day out yesterday at https://westmorlandshow.co.uk/county-show/ - a fistful of rosettes and three cups. It was a long day - son and grandson stayed down on the showfield overnight, and OH got up at 4:30 to milk etc and get down there as soon as possible.It was dark by everyone and everything was back last night so just the essentials (cows!) were unloaded. So today there's sorting out to do. At least I don't have to worry about making dinner as I seem to have massively overcatered and I'm sure they brought more food back than I sent.

Bit of a mixed day yesterday, Rosa has got conjunctivitis so a trip to the vet at Sherringham, for eye drops (probably picked up on the sand dunes at Great Yarmouth,) then a walk into Cromer via Blue Sky cafe for their gorgeous scones, then a sit on the pier in the sun with a coffee (free)with our loyalty card, and then a night out by invitation to the Sherringham Shanty men's practise night (great fun),

And another success yesterday - we are now live with B4RN (Broadband for the Rural North). So our speed - upload as well as download has taken a quantum leap (see photo). That's on the desktop connected via ethernet. Wifi to Ipad and phone etc is slower (but still way faster than BT).
