Here is a suggestion.  Let all the pitches be made 9m long and an awning worth wide, (don't ask me how) and made awailable to ALL site occupants. Then a charging system based on the amount of the pitch that is NOT used.  So fee would roughly double if no awning erected, and double again if a short camper was not using the full 9m length.

It's as good a suggestion as some further up the thread!

I'm struggling to see any common sense reason why a non awning pitch shouldn't be cheaper than an awning pitch......

(And likewise a grass pitch should be cheaper as well, like the CCC)

My M/H is about 6.4m.  We fit it, an awning, a toad & a car transporter trailer on a CC pitch comfortably, if you need more space than that you should be paying extra for it......

I agree that in a perfect world all pitches should be  capable,  within reason, of accommoditing any unit.

But we are where we are and, dare I say it, there seems to be a touch of jealousy and mean spiritedness in some of the earlier posts which, thank goodness, does not reflect the views of most members. Why should it concern me, with a smallish SA 2 berth van if someone with a larger unit is provided with a pitch which accommodates them? As long as I can get a pitch why worry about who's got what and why elsewhere on site? undecided

Could you just, briefly, enlighten us as to what research you have done into most members views M......?

Fair enough, I should have said "apparently" most members judging by responses on the forum, limited as they are! Mustn't fall into the same trap as some other posters! wink

    Is that a joke.......?..undecided

Prior to "M's" post there are contributions from about 20 CT'ers.....

    With differring opinions......

So that's 20 contributions from a membership of a million...

That's why I wondered why M felt entitled to speak for "most members"...?

Edit ...M just seen your reply.....I only took you to task on it because you are usually spot on correct in everything you say....smile

Maybe we are possibly looking at this from the wrong direction. Afterall, sites are what they are and historical layout, topography and design etc obviously play their part in their management. We therefore see those occasional 'oddly' sized pitches out there, be they by width or length.

So, as for those smaller, compact pitches in length, in fairness to all, should they be totally removed from use or should they be coned off or managed in other ways for use only by micro caravans or camper vans and anything else small enough. Also those that are smaller in width, should they be limited only for those who don't errect awnings?

Tell you what, probably best managed by those that know best on the ground at that moment of time. In other words, leave as is IMO.
