It is not the first time I have seen this but...  I am on a lovely site (not CC) with fab views from every pitch overlooking the sea.  There is a large motorhome and they have a small car with them.  Since they arrived a few days ago the complete front of the van has been covered up, thus allowing no views out to sea.  The side window blinds have either been down or half down.  They have a windbreak around the door, so if they did sit outside they would not have much of a view, and in any case the weather hasn't been so that you could sit out all the time.

As I said, it is not the first time I have seen this in a motorhome.  Just puzzled!

Whilst I agree with Husky, I have to admit that I’ve often wondered myself and my conclusion is the owners can’t be bothered fixing the cover and removing it daily.

Course if you let your imagination run away with yourself there could be all sorts of mundane, exotic or even erotic reasonssurprisedwink

If the ‘cover’ is one of the external window silver screens, they have a centre panel which will fold down for visibility.

Having said that, it’s entirely their own affair (😵).  Maybe they’re very stressed people and need some solitude.

    They'll be on honeymoon. laughing

Perhaps they go out all day, up before you are, not in until late. Not everyone sits around on site watching what others do all day. wink

Earlier this year we pitched next to a motorhome where they kept the blinds down all day, and we did wonder if they were just unfriendly. On one day we went out for the day using the bus and were talking to the friendly people next to us at the bus stop who were also on the site.

Next day the motorhome next to us was leaving and we found it was the people at the bus stop so you can never tell.

Interestingly enough, so did we this year. We left screens up in daytime as it helped reduce temperature inside MH. We were sat outside of course, little bit of sun, little bit of shadesmile

I'm pitched facing into the hedge. It's the only way I can get the MH levelled. The view in the other direction of another hedge and a caravan isn't exactly scintillating so I'm hardly missing much.

Nothing better for stress than looking at the sea.  No offence meant to them or anyone who does the same, just they are missing out and not taking advantage of the views accorded by this site.  Doubt they have been sitting out much in the weather we have had, no-one has.  Let's just say it will be an unsolved mystery, and I did like some of the reasons, on honeymoon etc.   Just thought of another, maybe they are vampires and only come out at night?  Must pop to Tesco and buy some garlic!!

Many years ago, we were at Hawes - probably just after it opened - and before the trees grew so large as to obscure the wonderful views.  It was a beautiful day and we were sitting outside taking in the scenery, when a large motorhome pulled onto the pitch next door.  Plug in - align satellite dish - go inside, draw blinds and switch TV on - and there they stayed for the rest of the weekend.  Now I couldn't give a stuff for what people choose to do when away in their vans - but what was the point of going away from home to do that?

Maybe they lived in the M/H and only left it during the week to go to work, relaxing as they wanted at the weekend.wink

I have noticed over the last couple of years that the occupants of motor caravans do tend to shup up everything and (apparently) go to sleep much earlier than those in trailer caravans. Sometimes even before we have started our evening meal, never mind the cards and games session afterwards. It does seem such a waste when there are such beautiful sunsets.

I'm gobsmacked! Motorhomers do this, do that and now go to bed earlier! What on earth is going on, it's nothing to do with caravaning or motor caravaning in my opinion, it's personal wishes! Our habits really have changed very little since owning a tent, a trailer tent, a caravan, a camper van and a motorhome or two! We just do what we want to do at any moment in time, not what the unit we are living in dictates! What we have found has made a difference is age, this has influenced our habits particularly with children fledging and grandchildren coming along!

What I have noticed over the last couple of years……

……Is the number of people commenting on CT about the ways of others when it’s none of their flaming business what people do unless it has a direct effect on them.

For goodness sake, haven’t folks better things to do than to watch others and post comments about their behaviour on here?yell

A little calm reflection and you will note that the OP isn't telling anyone how to live their lives, just a bit curious.

Perhaps it it because MHomers spend the day walking and cycling rather than going out in the car and by the evening are totally knackered and ready for bed or perhaps it's just my age.

Unfortunately or fortunately dependant on your point of view, most Brit built van have bench seats at the front sides and windows across the front and sides so if taking your ease you can hardly avoid looking outside, unless of course you pull the blinds/curtains.smile

If you ever see me with bino's looking out the windows I'm not curtain twitching just twitching.smile

Curtain twitching is a well honed skill -  Caravanners within the CMC have had years of experience.  ------- Fortunately Motorhomers dont bother with this tradition.  smile

    A good point OP

Perhaps why the blinds are part drawn. Certainly the case with us, with windows both sides and a front, plus one in the roof above the table, it's just too darn bright to see the screen on my iPad.😂 Unless of couse it is a very dull day.

Our blinds pull up, so it means we can't see out or be seen. Although I can't say it bothers me if folk find this strange or not.😀

Millie, asking such a question on a forum, is an open invitation for the 'snipers' to respond with a less than friendly response, and implying that you should mind your own business.

I'm sure that it was just curiosity that prompted the question, and I can't see a problem with that.

There could be numerous reasons why mothomers leave these covers on, one reason could be, if they not going out and about in the mho, they don't want to be bothered with taking it on and off.

I don't yet have one of these covers, and am undecided as to whether or not to get one.

We've never had a cover Dave LS, so we won't be susceptible to any queries on here and even as a motorhomer I wonder how some cope in the gloomy atmosphere of having full covers up throughout the year, but there you go, it's a choice thing. It doesn't really matter at all to anyone else. smile
